Forced to work day off.....

Forced to work day off.....

This is just a general query. Today I havent been able to make it to work due to heavy snow, plus my sons school has shut for the day. I've phoned the delivery office to tell them I can't make it in due to the circumstances and I have been told 'To make it fair' I am expected to work my day off which is saturday. Can they do this? I am a full time reserve which is on late xmas packet duties.

It sounds very fair to me, your only option is to say you can't work saturday as you have commitments but you are happy to have the day off (today) as unpaid, in all honesty you should have rang in sick mate!! Lesson learnt for next time :wink:

its not the only option
the DOM has the option of paid leave
or the OP can take a days holiday
phoning in sick for one day isnt a great idea
who knows what the next couple of months has in store
