I am trying to find out what the guidelines are around long weekends for reserves, small problem at our office, but looks the same for others judging by the comments on here. Either guidelines/job description for reserves or some info about long weekends for all staff would be appreciated. Can't seem to find it anywhere

Pre-revision you haven't a hope...there is nothing in writing.
Post-revision the agreement gives the same "guaranteed""majority""those who want it" 1 in 4 Saturdays as the rest but it doesn't mention Mondays.
You are basically down to local agreement and common sense.

Thanks for that, our revision is due, think I will put together a local agreement, have something in writing for revision.

You cannot just pluck things from the air and call them discrimination under employment law.
Royal Mail is not mentioned under employment law,neither are it's reserves or long weekends.
It may well be discriminatory but first you must build a case and test it in law and as far as i'm aware no-one has done this yet...so what you really should be saying is....i think this may be discrimination...anybody fancy trying it out?
Is it unfair...that's a different question and offices who are not making sure that reserves get a decent amount of long weekends really need to sort themselves out.

You ca only cite discrimination on grounds of sex age race etc. what you can claim however, is that thei actions are detrimental to you, if some reserves get it, and some don't.

We only have a few people doing a rolling day, the rest do the 1 in 6 week off, but we've always treated reserves the same as duty holders, a rolling day off means just that, so reserves get the same weekends off as anyone else. We've always done so in our office.
