Hi my nan past away the weekend and i have the funeral to go to next week asked manager about getting the day of work.
was asked if i can swap my day off but sure im allowed one day with special_leave to ?

Why wouldn't you swap a day off to go to a funeral? Going to the funeral is the important thing not getting a day extra

The guidelines are clear...he is entitled to 1 day's special leave A(paid)...and that is exactly what he should be getting........ no if's,buts or moral dilemmas just a simple "you go to the funeral...i'll deal with the paperwork" from his manager.
That's how real managers....manage.

Absolutley right Fishtank. That is how a manager gains respect from his footsoldiers, and when he asks them to do something, in return they are there to help out because they want to. If Royal Mail just spent a small amount of time and money, giving their managers just a hint of man management, humility and caring skills, this company could turn the corner overnight.
