Today i took out a reg for redelivery and pissed myself when i clocked how many times it had been 739(5).
The phg tells me shes an old dear give her a bit of time to get to the door,so off i goes.Its about 08.15 when i get to her gaff and bang on her door and bell.I waited for about 5 minutes before i wrote out another 739 and stuck it through her box.
Finished the rest of my reg and went back to the office for breakfast.
Phg tells me shes been on the phone again and wants another redelivery :shock: ok i said as i had to go back to her road on a parcel delivery later on.So i delivery all the firms and go back to her house about mid-day.She answers the door and is overjoyed to see me and thanks me for bringing the item :Very Happy She then has a nightmare with the PDA and after about 20 attempts we get there in the end :dance Next thing she shoves a fiver in my hand and once again thanks me and our phg and manager for our patience.
So at the 7th attempt she got her letter and i got my breakfast paid for(done a fiver in the bakers,we have no canteen) :cool
Is this a record for a re-delivery?
How many times should we re-deliver?

Five is my all time record as the women in question kept forgetting she had requested it and went out. :d'oh!

I refuse to redeliver anything thats been attempted 3 times. Never had any issues with that.

I was always told , 1 delivery attempt and 1 re delivery attempt then they have to fetch it or it goes back after the regulated time

The official line is re deliver until the time to send it back runs out.
Customer's always right. :cuppa
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Recorded Signed For™ items are kept for one week, Royal Mail Tracked items are held for two weeks, while all other items are kept for three weeks.
So you need to give 48hrs notice for a redelivery so that's

3 times for a Special/Recorded Signed For™ .
6 times for a Royal Mail Tracked.
10 times for anything else.

The line on our place is one redelivery thats it, if there not in tough they have to come and collect, strange how every office is different.

But EACH redelivery attempt resets the clock for sending the item back. It always used to be 3 attempted redels in our office but about a year ago manager said there was no limit.... if you think somebodies taking the piss then he'll authorise no redel after the 4th attempt.

It doesn't and it can't due to the sender needing to know what is going on.

We can only hold Recorded Signed For™ items for seven days before returning them to their sender – any redelivery date must be within seven days of the first delivery attempt.
