my friend works at lichfield do on a p/t contract, i'm told that management are constsantly bullying & harassing them to complete duties which are almost impossible to do on a daily basis.Some of these these posties are doing there jobs properly using royal mail transport and starting at their proper times. Some of these posties also rely on tax credits to supplement their pay due to p/t hours so don't want overtime due to paying back overpayments to the tax office. I'm told the union rep is totally behind these posties because they do the job properly and backs them up, but they are getting fed up with being accused of slacking daily, when in reality there's not enough hrs in the day for them to complete thier deliveries. And i'm told this is all pre - revision. My office ain't to bad at the minute but we're due to go live in the next couple of months so god help us!!

4 yrs ago we had a revision when the duty span was 3.5, the duty i was on and signed up too, went 4hrs-4.5hrs over just del mail

I kepy saying it was way over and wanted it to be tested, but never got any help from the rep and management just kept saying it was me, so I then kept claiming O/t when after a year they took 100 calls off me,the lino at the time is now our planner
But because i kept claiming O/t come the end of the year my tax credits had been over paid and to this date I am still paying it back,

Now in this time I have still had to walk sort this mail on my duty though it was done on S/Aa o/t.

In the new revision they have decided to put another 200 calls on my del ,now knowing what i have put at the front of this message I cannot see how I am going to complete this walk in 4.5 hrs and have told dom/lino this to no avail

Ref The Lichfield Rep, he has been banging on about doing the job properly (as Royal Mail want you to do)since he took on the job unfortunatly the majority of the office will not listen!!! Management have come up with a savings plan which takes away duties due to the fact people continue to use their own private cars he can not defend the hours that are getting taken out as the numpties are finishing before their time and not using the conveyance bag drop duties.

So why do management harass the people who do the job properly? remember it was Adam crozier who stated that "all he asked for was people to work the hrs they were payed"

My friends on a 30hr contract and works all the hours he is payed to do, so whats the problem? why the harassment? these posties didn't set up a system that was doomed to fail, the powers above did.

Do the people who use their own private cars and finish early get harassed?

I totally agree with the rep, you can't defend the undefendable - if people continue to use their own cars they will reap what they sew.

Perhaps if he called a union meeting and explained that the CWU has agreed that people are now obliged to use their own cars, that they would have to pay the costs for extra insurance and petrol and wear and tear, that they would be responsible for dropping off other posties and their bags and failure to do so would be a conduct issue, they might see things differently.

My rep has called many meetings trying to drum into the pr**s that come in early and run round without a break to stop doing it. The idiots all nod and say yes we'll come in on time, take a break and stop legging it round. Then 3 days later there back to coming in early, no break and running...they must have the brains of a goldfish. Luckily our office has banned car use otherwise the muppets would be using them aswell.

If hours are taken out because of runners then shouln`t the extra work be given to the first ones back ie the runners. That way the ones doing the job properly are unaffected and the runners rightly get shafted- or rather get to work to their time.
