Stage 3 Sickness

Not sure where i should of posted this so if it needs to be moved then please do so :)

Right i had a bad car crash (wasnt my fault) over a month ago which led me to be off for nearly 4 weeks with whip lash. It was all signed off by the doctors and am currently on physio but have found out that now i am on a stage 3 for sickness but also found out i was only 2 weeks away from wiping my sickness clean. To know i was just 2 weeks away from having my sickness levels wiped is a bit gutting but i just wanted to know what you all think will happen to me? and if there is any union reps in here if they could reply that would be great also?

Oh and im a part timer on a 25 hour contract.

You will have to attend a Stage 3 interview and beg to keep your job. Hopefully as the accident was'nt your fault RM will see sense
Make sure you take a Rep in with you

I was 5 days short on clearing my last Stage 2 but they still went ahead with the Stage 3 interview. I'm off again now so I'm going to have to go through it all again and this time I reckon they will get rid of me.

I wouldnt of thought they would get rid of me as i couldnt help the accident, and hopefully they wont. Hopefully a rep can enlighten me more on what they think will happen.

If you have a stage 3 interview make sure you take your area rep in with you. If you are facing dismissal you need all the experience you can get in there with you.
As the accident wasn't your fault RM should take this into account, and the fact you were close to clearing your stage 2 should count in your favour.
We recently had a colleague who triggered a stage 3 as a result of being assaulted. He still has his job.

prepare yourself for the very likely chance you will be dismissed
get all your evidence ready
argue your case and all mitigating factors

I kept gettting stuck on the Merry-go-round of stage warnings, missing out on clearing them by a couple of weeks each time it was very frustrating.

Only got to stage 3 meeting once where I had to "promise" to not to be ill! Take someone with you, swallow any ounce of pride you may still have left and grovel... they want people out and these are the chances they jump on so they need to think you will become one of thier buttmonkeys who will dance evey time they jangle your chain! (no harm in letting think you will at least until the warning is reverted back to stage 2)

At my next Stage 3 I'm refusing to beg to keep my job. They can get rid of me then I'll take them to an ET.......all sickness in the past 2 years caused by an AOD........lets see how that one stands up at an ET

Is their any reason in mitigation, That you believe that the stage 1 and 2 should not have been issued, if so you should also now appeal on them.

Stage 1 and 2 cannot be appealed at the time of issue, but can be at the time of a stage 3.

something i raised at mine was the time between absences and the issue of stage 1/2's
a few weeks on each can mean the difference on getting or not getting a sttage 3 later

On the 2 occasions where someone crashed into me,
i was off work for 3 weeks each time,
Royal Mail claimed my wages back off the guilty party's insurance,
so it was eventually removed from my record (or so i believe),
i presume they will do the same in your case.
in both cases i wasn't conducted, or even given a talking to.
ask your manager if they are claiming your sick pay back via the insurer,
and if they are, will the sick absence be removed.

they take no account to your illnees whatsoever ,brownie points to issue as there instructed ,kiss arse power heads , ive had sickness ,hospital appointments they dont give too s**t s still issue ,what a crook of shite ,a fecking disgrace you go through a bad time in ya life roya\l mail want you OUT ,,individual circumstances i think they call it joke

another strange post from postietaz - however to Russky6987 - AFAIK there is no time limit written in stone just that it should be within a reasonable time-scale - who decides what is reasonable though will probably be left to any Employment Tribunal.
