Our DOM in his infinate wisdom has decreed thru a brief by our line managers no packets or parcels shall be left with any neighbours from now on, this has created a mountain of undelivered packets strewn over our yard, as we are possibly one of the top three largest D-Os in England you can imagine just how many are being returned on a daily basis, on the run up to Xmas this IMHO will prove to be a blundering cock up. Lets hope he does a uturn and sees sense and we can get back to doing the job as we know we can. ANY COMMENTS.

Was told in team brief few month ago that even if householder requested in writing that a packet could be left with a neighbour or in shed/garage it was now a no no. P739 card and let them fetch it. Go figure that one for customer relationship

we just got told the usual no door-stepping, so same old practice oof leaving it with a neighbour or a open garage e.t.c

We were told "safe places" and "designated neighbours" can only be used if the customer sends their request in writing to the depot, some months ago. Despite informing my regular packet orderers of this, who had "informal" arrangements in the past, not one of them has put in a request!

But this is where irony steps in. When my driver takes oversize parcels to those addresses, he still uses the "informal" safe place, but then he was not at the meeting where new instructions were given!

I wonder if we will get the xmas 739's this year. Only had 3 boxes of them in our office last year, they ran out within a week.

The problem is of course that we probably left 30/40% ina safe place/neighbour/relative and we now have to store them................bit of a problem if no consideration has been given to the issue.........................there again not unusual for a half arsed solution.
