"Going by the book" and "Doing the job properly" - two phrases that keep cropping up on this board ...
"Common sense" - appears occasionally ...
"Discretion" - appears rarely ...
"Arse covering" - appears ... never ... but is implied EVERYWHERE ...
"Going by the book" would be great - if there was a bloody book (well, maybe a "National Book" with 3,000+ "local supplements").
"Doing the job properly" - see above.
"Common sense" - appears either to be ignored or knocked out of you by DOMs, linos or people who "Go by the book".
"Discretion" - appears to be ignored by all due to "Arse covering" brought on by "Going by the book" ...
It's took me about 5 months - but have I got it about right ???
