Sign it or else!!

Post by mailmonkey »

our office, through standing together and having good local reps, has managed to get another postponement of the revision, till January.

Manager told a colleague that he was expecting the rep to sign Stage 4 off now as the postponement was the final concession on RM's part.

Colleague was told that if the rep didn't sign it off, RM would force in a WORSE revision, reducing from originally revised 22 walks, down to 20, 3pm finish times on all duties, and force us to cross roads, take harder uphill loops etc.

Colleague seems to think manager can do this  , I've told colleague it's a BLUFF  , and he hopes we'll all get the rep to sign it off in fear of RETRIBUTION :evil/mad . Can the manager do this, impose a WORSE revision deliberately as punishment through EA.

Should we tough it out?

Tell him to do one.
Let him know you won' be bullied.
They can bring in a worse revision, but you can only work to your time.

Its not up to the dom on what gets put on a walk or not...its the planner. But then again the dom does have some rights to get involved within the planning.

Who cares if the duties are 5 hours long, just do the hours your paid for and go home. Adam crozier once said he wanted every postman to work their contracted hours, well do as the man said its that simple.

If you posties all stay strong, you could make your DOM and their section managers suffer by calling their bluff and then all agree to cut-off beyond a certain time, with nobody picking up the slack.

Do what our office is doing.

Tell them it wont work but if they insist it will let them bring it in if they want to.

This makes management responsible for the carnage.

I cant wait for january...

i can promise you this mailmonkey this revision will not get signed off unless the postmen and women agree to.it
yes they can screw us up and make this revision twice as bad but as the guys have pointed out above the only ones they will really be screwing is themselves,as the breakoffs will show.
we as an office have stood up for are self and got a hell of a result when this revision does come in we can all be confident that we pushed as far as we could to get fair duties.
management from royalmail no matter how far up the ladder or for that matter union which seems to be fighting against us as well will force the reps to sign off.

General feeling seems to be let RM do what the feck they like, but we're not prepared to put our name to it. And, as people are sayin, we can only work to our times, the goodwill has long gone. :Boo hoo! :Boo hoo!

There's a good feeling going round the place again!

And some great cuttin off today! :nana :nana :nana

Their standard negotiating practise is to use threats. They often use union officials to pass down their threats.

Always call their bluff.

Local unit managers like to use the threat that if it goes higher, a worse solution will be implemented. However, in reality, they hate for anything to go out of the building because this attracts the attention of the big bosses. RM is a massive organisation made up of many units. The big bosses leave the units to run themselves unless they are made aware of problems within specific units. If units are causing hassle for the big bosses, they will eventually put new leadership into those units.

It is us who should be threatening to take things higher, not the other way round.

Stand your ground.

Its amazing how true this is.

Big Bosses really dont know whats going on at ground level because DOMs tend to cover up/make excuses for failings.

Its really is rife throughout the organisation.
