slim chance my friend unless you are happy to drop hours to get your transfer any f/t vacancy these days is likely to drop to a 20 hr duty same with 30 hr p/t duties plus in agreement with the union in the managing the surplus any vacant jobs should be offered to those whos positions are disapearing first,your best chance could be to contact the dom of whichever office you wish to go to and keep at them

Transfers
If you want a transfer you must do the following;
1.Tell your D.O.M that you need a transfer and the reason why,he should then give you a transfer form.
2.Go and visit the office(s) you are interested in,do not bother looking on the website as they don't bother advertising 90% of the vacancies on there.If it isn't possible to visit the office ring the D.O.M there and speak to him personally if you can.Find out who the recruitment adviser at Chesterfield is for the office you wish to transfer to.
3.If they have a suitable vacancy go back to your D.O.M with your complete transfer form and hand it in to him,he should then fill in the managers section of it and send it off by special delivery to the recruitment centre in Chesterfield.He should give you the track and trace number of the special.
4.Check with the recruitment adviser at Chesterfield that they have received the transfer form,when they do you will be put on the transfer list awaiting a vacancy.
5.When a suitable vacancy arises Chesterfield will contact you and arrange for you to be interviewed by the manager either by phone or in person.
6.If and when you are accepted for the position you then need to get Chesterfield to E-mail your D.O.M giving him 28 days notice for you to be released.When you next see your D.O.M tell him you have been accepted for the position and that he has 28 days notice in which to release you.If your D.O.M starts messing you about get straight onto your rep/area rep who can then speed the process up.
7.NOTE if you have any live stage warnings(within last 12 months)for conduct/attendance you cannot transfer until they clear.
Hope this clears things up as I thought I couldn't transfer but managed quite easily when I tried.
Good Luck

Re: Transfers
Wild Cat is basically right. However I have heard that the notice period is 6 weeks i.e. The DOM must release you in 6 weeks once you've been offered the job and you must take up the position offered in 6 weeks, or lose the right to the post.Wild Cat wrote:If you want a transfer you must do the following;

Another tip is to maintain contact with the DOM in the office you want to move to on a REGULAR basis. I have heard of a boy heading south going from a P/T to F/T contract. This is rare, as it will usually be the other way round.

Re: re evr
The same thing has been happening at my mail centre. They did give applicants between 50-54 their full pension entitlement (+ up to 6 yrs 8 months additional yars) during EVR's 3 years ago. Since then they have said it's too expensive and have been only offering the 26 weeks minimum VR payment. But now they are running out of applicants and are offering reduced pensions with an increased lump sum.gandhi'sfriend wrote:beg to differ re evr, i've been turned dowm and it was given to 3 other guys who's combined service dont equal mine, told at 50 i'm the wrong ageand it would be too expensive to give me evr (bastards)

He can apply for a transfer as soon as the stage 1 clears(12 months from date of issue).As far as I know there is no reason you cannot get EVR if you are on a stage,as they would probably want rid of you anyway,it usually depends on how much it will cost RM.brisomerset wrote:Okay then i have a mate in our office who wanted to transfer.Told NO because he has a stage one against himSo can he apply for EVR instead? Take the money and run?
