When should xmas duties be put up and when should they start?

Local Agreements I would think.

Ours were done this week and start 6 Dec.

What are Xmas duties? Having never been with RM for a Christmas, I wouldn't know. Do you get a set duty for the Christmas period or something?

Through a national vote during WTL, various candidates vie for the position of Santa, reindeer or elves.
Once decided these are the Christmas duties, youre issued with the requisite costume and the idea is to spread Christmas joy and fun to everyone.


Except posties of course, f*ck them and their festive season!

Not quite - some offices will have night shifts and extra vehicles to cope with the pressure.

Also as there is always a leave ban from around the 1st full week in December then there are extra bodies around.

Therefore duties are changed, and people moved- hence the term Christmas Duties.

Our office hasn't even had a resign of the new duties far less a xmas one. 5 days till the new revision kicks in and still no sign of picking a duty. :shock:

i look at this and think that this means they will ignore any local agreements that may appear and just keep us in as long as they want in the mornings as they could force us to stay out untill all hours ,


I wouldn't sign it, let them put you on another delivery. You'll take longer to get out, you'll do less actual delivery, then bring MORE back. FANTASTIC! Less time out in the cold, delivering tripe, whilst everyone else is gearing up for the big day. And if you prefer docket, again, let them take you off your delivery, you'll be out for longer, you'll get more money - K£RCHING!
