what a waste of time!

We have certain posties that feel they must help the royal mail out during the strike by coming in at 4.10am so that they can prep their walks and help the get rid of the backlog of mail(da don't they get the point!).
We only get paid for working our allotted hours so why do some posties decide to work for free just so they can finish their walks on time !
Not only that but the majority of part-timers come in early as well!
Oh wait a minute I've notice these posties who start early spend most of their time walking around doing nothing for long periods in the mornings!Thank god for the coffee machine they must ask themselves!

i agree but ive noticed that slowly more and more are coming round to our way of thinking

today almost everyone cutoff when RM management imposed a no ext dly today

They only come round to it when they realise that they can actually do less work in the time allotted for their duty. It takes a lot of banging your head against a wall to get them to realise this but once they do, they suddenly stop using their car, take their meal breaks and end up cutting off. There's only so many hours in a duty :)

same here get some in just gone 3 for free some times sort all the packits up for there side then moan when we come in at 5 and slow them down.

There's people at my office doing 2 cut offs today as well as their own delivery. All they care about is money.
Yet another reason to up the ante and call 2 day strikes at the least. The more backed up mail, the less chance these mercenaries will have of clearing it and helping royal mule. I'm sure these would also be the first people to scab in our otherwise 100% scab free office. It'll only take 1 or 2 scabbing to convince the others they can scab.
Yes, we all have bills to pay and mouths to feed. But if royal mule win, you'll be working the same hours you do now, including overtime, for no more money than your flat weekly wage, which of course will be less than it is now.

today i started to work my up to my time and not do anymore for royal mail, of course this didnt go down to well with the DOMS and i got pressured into doing all of my walk, i said i am not going over my time while its striking period. and wont do.
I expect the managers are out to get me now because i am the only one who does it in my office, everyone else claims over time and does extra, do they even thou why are we striking for? most peple treat strike days as day off.

Treating it like a day off isn't ideal, but if it means they aren't scabbin' it's something.
I'd love to see everyone in our office working to their 318's. But that just aint ever gonna happen. Far too many on cushy numbers, finishing 2 hours early. No way are they gonna take their meal relief before they leave the office. Shame they don't realise that they're also the reason the management(sorry, mismanagement) are trying to get extra sorting out of everyone every day.

And do they realise that if they have an AOD outside of their alloted hours they are NOT covered by RM insurance as technically they are not legally supposed to be there. Think about it people, how would your families cope with no pay or compensation?

That's a very good point - but only valid if they are the sort of posties that wear RM shoes & hi-vis....and how many posties in your office wear their PPE?

I came back today from my delivery to find out clowns in our office being told to sort for 15 minutes each of flats after they had finish there walks, then they could go home, i called them all gullibal and i went home

YEP i'M AT THE SAME DELIVERY OFFICE AS ilovemailsort AND THIS WEEK IT SEEMS JOB N' FINISH IS OUT THE WINDOW - THOSE THAT MIRACULOUSLY HAVE MANAGED TO GET BACK WITHIN THERE HOURS ARE BEING MADE TO SORT SOME OF THE BACKLOG!
I RETURNED WELL AFTER MY TIME (CUSTOMER SERVICE FREAK, ETC) AND NOTICED SORTING HAD BEEN DONE, NEEDLESS TO SAY MY STUFF REMAINS IN THE RACKS AWAITING MY ENTRANCE AT 0445 (MY START TIME) TOMORROW!!!
