Moving office
Ther's a driving vacancy at an office near my home, which I wouldn't mind applying for. What's the correct procedure, do I call the DOM and let him know I'm interested? Will he contact my current DOM as a matter of course? I'm a bit concerned if he does as this might jeopardize my contract when it comes up for renewal.
I staged a Roger Moore impersonator festival in my local village. There were a lot of eyebrows raised, I can tell you.

Re: Moving office
Is it advertised to the general public? I applied for a different position recently and just used the same process as the average jo and the interviewer was fine with it. Might be better to do it that way then your current managers dont need to know?

In normal circumstances i would phone/go down to the other DOM as it gets things moved quicker.
And yes he would of course contact your office.
Is there no chance you could also chat with your present DOM and explain it's near home and ideal for you ect?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
