hi could anyone answer or help with some questions i have,
i am on a 3 months p/t 25 hour week contract, should the frame be prept so when i get in its just bundle up and off i go (in my car i might add)
also the other day i got in and frame was empty had to prep frame , flats, packets (which seem to be getting bigger) bundle up and told line manager i would not be able to finish whole route, in which the reply was, if you dont do you have no chance of contract being extended, this realy upset me, and now when i arrive at d/o i sit my car and have a fag before i go in and feel sick, because i dont know what im going into. i love the job but why should i do a full time job on part time hours? please advice.

since starting a month ago not been introduced to any rep, being p/t here your just a piece of dirt by the things of it, never had a day off sick in 24 years of my working life, but working here for just a month and i feel like just doing a sickie or walking.

A very well thought out and constructive answer from noggin1969 the only thing that I would add is next time make a request from your manager to give you it in writing that your contract will not be extended due to the fact that you would not be able to complete the duty in the alloted time/contracted hours.

Not good reading this. As Postman said you need to report this to the office rep. Firstly are you a CWU member ? If not become one

Im coming up to 3 years in RM now . Im p/t 25 hr contract .
I used to put up with this sh1t about the frame not ready etc .
IF he said to me about not renewing the contract if i didnt do the walk id have punched the pr1ck cos hes taking the p1ss mate .
I used to do overtime all the tim to help them out and backshifts etc and early saturdays and f/t in the summer holidays ......... now 25 hours and ONLY 25 hours cos you get NO thanks at all .
Now when the frames not ready i either put it up and ask them what part they are taking off me or i get them to do it .
Also d2d's should also be prepped for you . If they arent then i let them know and they either do it for me or i bag up and leave without them .
RM life is so much better now LOL

Was only a short while back the advice we gave to theses type of posts was,'Stick with it for a year till your trial is over then tell them to do one when they try it on'.

Some duties are partially prepped, some not.
Each duty should have a log showing exactly what's to be done, by whom and when.
Ask your manager, no, ask your rep to find out your start time, how long you have to prep, how long for travelling, breaks etc, and your finish time.
If you have 50 mins to prep, at the end of your 50 mins, if you are not finished, go and see the DOM, or whoever is in charge, and say you haven't finished, which means that you will not be able to finish on time, what should you do. He might ask you to work overtime, or make other other arrangements for the duty to be completed.
