Your kidding right?, When the new revision comes in you will have to have less dp as you are taking all the packets,tracked ect as well, there is only so many hours in the day.

Depend where you are some DOs in my area have apparently reduced the indoor hours and therefore increased the outdoor ones meaning that if they bolt 2 pre CDVs deliveries together say 2 x 950 terraced bingo you have 1 CDV with 1900 and in MANAGEMENT eyes with increased outdoor hours you have time to do the extra.

Don't care if you're Superman, 1600 DPs is 6 hours minimum, just normal mail and packets. These guys are insane, utterly insane. There's a terraced walk in our place that takes three hours, 650 delivery points.

Hmm, 1600 shared doesn't sound as bad as some horror stories, but all the packets and specials on that will add an hour (average day) instantly. If my present walk was 800 DPs it would take 4.45 hours on an average day, just the mail and normal packets. So I would hypothesise that each of the walks you're talking about will still be 6 hours, even having not seen them, due to the lag caused by packets and the trolley. Not that RM would ever listen to a normal postman like me because I'm a mong and COMPUTER SAYS NO.

There is of course the benefit of LWTs weight off the shoulder = more work capacity, except of course it takes longer and hey.......the weathers not even bad yet...........lets hope the snow holds off until after xmas.

When they say that many DP's they must mean a CDV shared by 2 people, so thats only 800-900 DP's each! In my office some have that now and our CDV revision is still in the planning process.

That's why we need trolleys - to carry your boxes of sequenced mail from one end of the frame to the other.

It is getting stupid...and unrealistic and a young man's game.
Getting the weight off the shoulder is fine and something we have needed for a long time but pulling a 38kg trolley for 4-5hrs plus in all weathers will bring with it a whole new batch of H&S problems.
I don't believe that either Royal Mail or the CWU has invested enough time or effort in researching the possible long term implications of these much larger delivery spans.
