before your 6 months is up?
Lisa i'm afraid theres lots of people in your shoes, on temp contracts that RM want rid of. If you had been employed for 2 years then you should be made permanent but at 6 months i'm afraid theres nothing that can be done.

Even the 2 year rule has gone out the window.

its law the cant dismiss you after 2 yrs because wot are the sacking you on
you cant be unsuitable and therefore you would get a payoff

Wrong the law states they only have to make you permanent if you have done over 4 years.

MTSF states that it should be two years. Royal Mail do not want to honour this agreement. There are talks on -going at CWU HQs on this issue. Its complex as of course if Royal Mail force Royal Mail to abide by the two year rule then the FTCs may be surplus in the office in the first place from the revison. In addition you can be assured that Royal Mail will not let any further fixed term contracts get to the two year time span. Even now they are chainging the length of contracts they are giving some are now having the have their contracts renewed every two weeks.

Whats has been agreed is that providing their is a disagreement in place that management cannot simply turn off a fixed term contract. However if an office is having a revision and you are under two years then Royal Mail will try and switch FTCs before paying out money on VRS.

Even the most naive, inexperienced member knew this would be the case...so why wasn't that door nailed shut during the 4 months of negotiations...
If Royal Mail truly are picking and choosing which agreement they wish to honour then that decision must have been made at the highest level.....so where is this new relationship...this so-called trust without which the 2010 agreement cannot function.
I don't personally believe there was ever any real intention to build a new relationship....i just think we've been taken for mugs but that's not really relevant any more...the question is when do we say enough is enough?

RM have always picked the bits of agreements they wish to implement, and there was no reason to think this would be any different, the refusal to abide by the 2007 agreement was the reason for the last round of strike action, why did anyone believe the 2010 agreement was going to be any different.

Well a great many of us on this forum didn't believe, but the union mouth pieces were telling people it was the deal of the century, the best pay deal ever, there was no plan B and then of course the CWU Circus came to town....................actually a great many towns and cities and the professional union bods swallowed it hook, line and sinker................still it was voted in by a minority of the total membership but a majority of those of bothered to vote.
