You can take a career break, there are some criteria that you have to meet.

Ones I remember are:
Been employed for at least a year
Not working anywhere else whilst on career break(without management knowledge/permission)
Leave forwarding address/contact details
Notify RM of any change in circustance etc


You keep your years service for seniority purposes minus the break, you are guarenteed a job at same grade when you return but not necessarily same office/walk/duty -It does have an impact on pensionable service so best check with Pensions and HR

You can get the form from HR/Line manager/Intranet - it is at mangement discretion

Be very careful about this!


We had a chap who took time off like this, based at a Mail Centre on nights, return to said Mail Centre - No job - got moved to a local delivery office on his 30 hr contract but hours now 8.00am to 2.00pm on a walk.
