revision gone wrong

just heard manchesters northwest DO has this week implimented its revision , guess what its gone tits up loads of walk failing and mail backing up everywhere , they have had to draft managers in to help has anyone else heard this??

one or two areas are in the same boat, we go live on monday 8th ( barnsley ) they where told 3 weeks ago by some official bigwig or other after reviewing duties that they are too big which we already knew but it fell on deaf ears and now we are all definately going to be cutting off, not just because of this, we feel that 3 o'clock finnish is too long without going over it we've had no involvement in the structuring whatsoever, being implemented on us, no testing, like it or lump it attitude we havn't secured any parking for extra vans practicaly begging people to take them home overnight. sorry to have gone on a bit but after 23 years service i'm pi**ed off so i can definately see our office go tits up b4 xmas

You would have thought so wouldn't you - I suppose the theory is if it works through christmas it'll work anytime and if it fails now it will need an overhaul. They may also be relying on the fact that people like to earn before christmas and will be more amenable to overtime and making it work............but really everything points to it being better to wait.

Unfortunately the cash flow crisis means they are desperate for every single penny that these revisions can bring.
Desperation leads to poor decision making.

dundee east has been in for four days now, 27 yorks of live mail unsorted, dates from end oct, 14 yorks of large packets, whole walks are coming back, and family friendlies are taking them out at 7 am next day, then the 2 shared van lads go out at 10- 30 ish with the days mail, nightshifts every night, managers from angus,perth, fife sortin all afternoons, its carnage, absolute carnage, no door to doors been done, leave them was the cry, no ones using pdas, cause they cant be arsed, today the note taking and raised voices started when the fleet of vands returned at 2- 30, what a sight it is,

7 weeks til xmas, theres a chance to earn about 4 grand in o/t workin nights one lad reckoned, amazing stuff, we await the bullyin to start soon,

Oh, belter, its a split office, dd4 sector and dd5, but now we all sort the mail together, so a guy wi 3o years on dd5 has to learn the dd4 sorting, and opposite, prep rates are around the 4 a minute, what a hoot, the jobs never been so easy.

Our revision at Sheepscar LS6/LS7 has been in since the 25th of october, no one has completed yet.
Letters can just get delivered by 2.30 pm on most walks but that is leaving tracked reggies and all packets!!! We have people in from all over Leeds and the office cannot get cleared, oh and our £600 bonus due to be paid today wasnt in our wage packet!

Royal Mail cannot allow you to do that so you will not be working straight through without a break.
The earliest you will be allowed to finish is 3.10 pm so you better have a plan B.

just 2 add to brookstar comments, absoloutely no input from staff, not many 1-1, no family friendly duties for full timers, 900+ delivery points on hct duties,1400+ on cdv duties, doubling of fleet to 48 vans but only space 2 park 30 in yard. Having 2 hire a council car park for 4 hours a day..where did they find the money for that

our office has had it in since 18th october, and theres mail left every day,loads of failures, yorks crammed full of undelivered mail. managers out delivering at 6.30 at night. one of the acting gaffers said the usual maximum overtime for a week is about 200hrs for the whole office, but, last week it was 1200hrs. and this week its at 700 hrs up to now......yes its working they say!!

yes totally agree with you leave till after xmas , were suppose to start 15th nov but weve had no imput in the duties , i just cannot believe the cwu have agree and worked along with r/m to bring this in , me personally will be working to my time and cutting off as some of our duties are geo routed at 5.30 which will mean 6+ , i feel sorry for the customers being treat like s**t
