How does this protect FT Jobs
The CWU made a big sell of 2010 & Beyond saying they had protected FT jobs.
How does PT on 3 & 4 day weeks starting at same time as FT protect FT jobs ?
And also does this not allow for longer del spans, by cutting the indoor hours down.

This ain't no baseball game, you get only one chance and you blew it.

Protecting them in our office in the West of Scotland. We have 2 options, set days of Weds, Thurs, Fri, rotating Sats, Mons, Tues, over a three week period five day attendance , one in three Sats off. Will make 6 part timers full time and the rest go onto a three day week of Sat, Mon, Tues attendance. Or we stick to our normal shift pattern of one Sat in six five day attendance 4hrs 50min deliveries including conveyance and at least 9 part timers are being made up to full time. Would run with an office of 90% full time staff. Ballot is next week for the 2 options.

How many vacancies were you carrying?...or how many jobs have gone?crockboy wrote:Protecting them in our office in the West of Scotland. Do you have a cast iron agreement that any full-time vacancies going forward will be filled by a full-timer?
Otherwise i'll give you 18 months before you're back to 65%...with less staff and longer deliveries....de ja vu anybody?
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Re: How does this protect FT Jobs
No jobs are going as yet. We already queried that and have concrete conformation that there'll be no job losses. But i do think they'll come for jobs once the walk sequencing comes in next year. I think we'll lose about 5 positions. Taking into account the time walk sequencing supposidly saves on the indoor time.

Re: How does this protect FT Jobs
also west of scotland and mngmt have said they CANNOT give us more sats off we have to stick to 1 in 6 off
now what does the agreement say on sat AT LEAST 1 in 4 off is that not what we voted on
area rep says it was only a sweetner
they also want 4.15 or 4.30 hr del spans and do not have figures how many pt made up but they can sure tell us how many ft posts can be lost
where do we stand on sat issue they seem to want to protect their ptrs
nb. we have not had 1pt made up to ft since we moved into new office 5yrs ago

If your area rep is in on the act as well as per your post, then you need to go to the Div rep/s.guvenor wrote:also west of scotland and mngmt have said they CANNOT give us more sats off we have to stick to 1 in 6 off

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

If the area rep is in cahoots with them, he should be named and shamed. Aren't there re-elections soon?

give your rep a break , the reps are not in it for themselfs, REPS are pissed off with blokes like you giving them s**t all the time . At the end of the day rep only has the best intrests of the office at heart . IF YOUR REP IS THAT s**t WHY DON'T YOU DO IT .!!!!!

Re: How does this protect FT Jobs
We are being offered 1 in 3 off but the downfall of that being less part-timers being made full time. If we stick to the 1 in 6 sats then more part-timers get made up to full time. So we've a ballot in our office to choose which. And our area rep is always on the ball and we have strong office, so i think we'll be ok. Just a little emotional blackmail. Do i take less sats for more people getting full time jobs or do i get more sats and less people becoming full time.

Our office just rolls over and accepts anything they throw at us. Our office is a joke and so is our rep, but who would be a rep these days with so many deal getting done behind closed doors.

Re: How does this protect FT Jobs
So true Steven. Our office will under the new plan lose over 30 people but get more full time staff. it's a joke with rounds so big you couldn't do it with a pair of motorised roller skates never mind walking it with a trolley.

The reps are the fall guys here jock, but members do have a legitemate reason for being pissed off, the problem is the s**t agreements!wee jock wrote:give your rep a break , the reps are not in it for themselfs, REPS are pissed off with blokes like you giving them s**t all the time . Btw your description of the 'perfect rep' here is not always true, anymore than that of the perfect member.

Re: How does this protect FT Jobs
No - the problem appeared to be an AREA REP allowing a revision to go through against the member's wishes.
