Specials and Sign Fors - how many ?

I'm sure this sort of thread has happened before ... but me (and my lino !) thought 14 "sign fors" and 2 "specials" (and 1 "sign for" on lapse) was fairly impressive fora "light Tuesday" ...

I had 22 specials once on a Saturday, but I think the most I have ever had on a Tuesday was 6.

We got hammered today. Tuesday is normally one of the heaviest days for specials and packets anyway but letters and flats is normally very light. We had shed loads of everything today. I had 21 specials and five packet bags plus almost a full york of large packets. Almost like Christmas has come early

dont banks sometimes send their cards via "recorded sign for" - when they do, you'd get like about 15, or around 30 if on a 800+ call

you shouldnt be taking more than 5 specials out

Do not carry more than the maximum number allowed. Do not expose yourself to risks.
If it is a high risk area then refer to the “WalkSafe” threat assessment procedure as it may
be necessary to reduce the number or remove these items completely on certain walks.

exceeding this standard number of items per week must to be Risk Assessed to determine
the appropriate method of delivery and whether it needs to be motorised. Ideally collection

Not 100% on a limit,but some drives may have to be risk assessed if it gets to silly amounts i know that,for instance high st ones.

43 last xmas,even the DOM came out of hibernation fer that one,mostly Amazon/Play.com (van )

At my old office it was always max 30 for a van driver - the High Street duty often used to exceed that and they would send the balance over 30 out with someone else

Anything for banks, POs or jewelers is normally the guideline I think.

you get to know
you can tell obvious stuff like jewelers,cash to PO's etc
also watch out(around now) for people getting their xmas vouchers and the like
they can have a high cash value
my office also delivers to a bank cash clearing house
they can get £100000's a day in £2500 bags
that goes on a specific van with a specific driver
must have ID and be known to the security guards
then its a controlled entry for the van with external van checks

managers know this
buy still send unknown guys round with no ID,wrong van etc
and are surprised when they are refused entry

Well to give you an idea of the shops I deliver specials to on a regular basis...

Mobile phone company
Sub-Post Office
Supermarket
Dentist
Newsagents
Card Shop
Solicitors

I have many days since April where I could have eight of the above with me, sometimes even been asked by lino to take nine, if my first special drop is very early on in round (which normally is, the jewellers, just 2 minutes delivery time). Yet at no time has anyone at the depot raised the subject of "high value specials" and a three limit...

I guess specials are only a big problem if you've got a lot of businesses on your round. The most I've ever had is 4. The most recordeds I've had is 15. I deliver to a poor-ish residential area so I don't expect the upper limit to fluctuate much beyond either of those two.
