Hi Guys & Gals

Post by Thommo-the-Phot »

I have just found this site whilst researching Industrial Tribunals against Royal Mail :Very Happy

I have had 3 Stints at 3 different Offices, on 3 different Contracts, within Royal Mail Deliveries!!!
All have been in the South Coast, Hampshire area!

My first experience of Working in the RM Group, was as a "Christmas Casual" in December 2006 ~ 3 weeks of the Twighlight Shift, with a Happy group of Guys & Gals, with a couple of really Good Managers!

My Second in the spring of 2007, was a 3 Month Casual Contract in My own Town, being paid Hourly, doing the same job as OPG's, but at about £3 per Hour less than Full time Staff!

My Third, was on a Full Time OPG Contract, from October 2007, until June this Year (2010), when I was 'Dismissed' for what I believe to be a Trivial & Unavoidable medical matter (nothing to do with My First 2 Stage Warnings)!!!

The Area Manager should have exersised Their discretionary powers to keep Me at "Stage 2", but didn't, & My appeal failed because "Correct Procedure" had been followed!!! :arrrghhh

I am now following the Industrial Tribunal route, and have just been informed by ACAS that RM's Socicitors concede that "I WAS RIGHT" :dance and will be offereing Me my base requirement of Re-Instatement, with All back Pay since My final Date!!!

Now, I ask You this:
DO I accept, and return to Work :cool OR Carry on with My Tribunal, & Sue RM??? :evil/mad

Any Advice / Help Gratefully accepted ~ Ta
Regards

Welcome and well done and going to move this to blue shirts.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

It's a no-brainer in my opinion...accept your job back with full back pay.
What would you realistically hope to win by continuing?....a couple of grand and what will you lose if it goes badly wrong?...your job.
Now if you were given the chance of choosing between your job and a couple of grand what would you choose?
And well done for getting to this point....not many do. :Applause :Applause :Applause
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Well done mate good to hear of a victory.
Only you can decide what's best for you, my only advice would be don't let the thought of wanting vengance cloud your judgement too much.
Think what's best for the long term for you and your family if have one.
This ain't no baseball game, you get only one chance and you blew it.

Welcome :wave

I think only you can decide as i imagine it depends mostly on personal finances.

I agree with the others that you have done REALLY WELL to get your job back :Applause

I think i would return to to work and put it behind me for now. If i still felt sore about it in a few months i would look for something else and leave when it suited me. :Very Happy

Good luck whatever you decide.

 Yes, on balance, go back. The back pay you will get will probably match what you would get through going to tribunal, only insist that it be put on record that you were not at fault-(Get it in writing)--god luck but watch your back from now on.-

Hello mate :wave I would take the back pay and return to work smiling like a cheshire cat "Xmas is only 52 days away"

I think as you have won your appeal R/M management wont come near you as they will be to scared but you never know so heed stokes advice for a few weeks/months.

Well done for fighting your fight and winning but just choose wisely your next move.

Have you been offered your old office back or will that change on your re-instatement,i only ask as we have a lad in our office who won a re-instatement with back pay but was moved office.

Good luck matey.......

You will receive about 4 months of full time pay and a job if you go back.
There is no certainty as to how much money RM will be forced to pay you
at the tribunal .
I would definitely go back out of those 2 choices.
Well done mate :Applause

The time has come for union.
