Just wondering what days off we have this year . Union rep said to someone today we are only getting sat sun each week ... Hope he is having a laff

Don't know for sure but it can't just be Sat/Sun as we get two public holidays at christmas and two at new year, so at a minimum it should be Sat/Sun/Mon each week if they count saturday as the first public holiday. Last year we got four days at each weekend due to the saturday being classed a 'no service' day.

I would probably say the same the 1st week but not too sure if you will get monday new year week as we have a extra day to recover from our P**s up .

Exceptions to Royal Mail’s universal service obligation – for 1, 3 and 4 January 2011

This consultation seeks views from postal users (senders and recipients) on Royal Mail’s application for an exception to the universal service on:

• Monday 3 January 2011 in the UK; and

• Tuesday 4 January 2011 in Scotland only,

in addition to Saturday 1 January 2011.

Royal Mail has made this request because under current arrangements there would be no service on Saturday 1 January but a normal service would resume on bank holiday Monday 3 January (except for Scotland where a normal service would resume on Tuesday 4 January).

If Postcomm agrees to an exception to the universal service obligation on the dates requested, it means that Royal Mail will not have to deliver or collect mail on those dates.

This is a one month consultation. The deadline for responses is 22 October 2010.
