Perhaps I'm stupid but can someone please explain in simple terms how the RM sickness rules work re stage 1, 2 etc. I just don't get it!

You get a stage 1 for either 4 periods of sick absence or a total of 14 days or more - This lasts usually for a year.
Stage 2
If on a Stage 1 you get a Stage 2 if you have another 2 periods of sick leave or a total of 10 days in any 6 month period over the next year. In other words if your on a stage 1 then there must be a minimum of 6 months between sick absences or you get a stage 2. This lasts for a year and then you go down to a Stage 1 till that's finished.
Stage 3
Exactly the same as Stage 2 but stage 3 can lead to sacking,

Although it can be 4 absences or 14 days - they also look for a pattern. So if you have 3 Saturdays off they can issue the stage warning if they like.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Never heard of that,that's not in any guidelines.So if you have 3 Saturdays off they can issue the stage warning if they like.

Employees will need to demonstrate - by meeting the customer requirements on notification and certification of absence - that the sick absence was necessary. Deliberate abuse of these provisions will constitute misconduct and may result in disciplinary action.

I was asked by a college to sit in on a stage one warning he was getting.The first thing the manager said, was depending on wether or not he liked you,he would decide to issue you with a warning or not. Surely it should be issued by someone independant from your section.
