Had one of these a few years back. You usually get the cheque in about 2 weeks. Nice christmas pressie.

Yes they would try claw it back. Know a few posties who have had compo for dog bites or accidents. When the payout arrived RM took money back to cover the cost of sick pay!!!! What a rip off. Mind you we should be used to it by now. Nothing they wont stoop to.

Yes I got compo nearly ten years ago and rm got their sick pay back off me. 15 weeks worth. So they have been doing it for years. Once the compo had been agreed after nearly 3 years it took about three weeks after that I got the money. Enjoy you're Xmas.

If the accident was a third party and not the fault of RM they will try to claim the wages that they paid you when you were sick....

Now they've dealt with your claim perhaps they might get on with mine 
If they take sick pay into account looks like I'm going to lose quite a big chunk of any potential payout

I think that's only if your injury was caused by a third party and you are getting compensation from them (or their insurer) Stormproof.
As yours was caused by an AOD I don't think they can clawback your pay while off sick as a result.

They will claim it back as I had a letter from RM saying that they intend to claim the money when I have been paid out, this was an accident on duty and the claim is from the guys insurance company. I was off work for 10 weeks so it amounts to £1500, they also done this last year when I was again involved in a accident on the way to work,
They also harrass you asking when the payment is going to be paid out, I basically told them to Go F""k themselves they will get the monies when I recieve it ,
I think RM should do the chasing of the monies themselves,
The dog bite I never took time off so they were not able to claim any money back

If its a Third Party accident through no fault of RM and you get a payout (which would include loss of earnings ) the business has the right (and quite right in my view ) to claim back lost wages ( which is minus SSP)..
If you ran your own business and somebody had a car accident outside work hours, and was off for 6 months and received say £10k would you be chasing the wages you paid over those 26 weeks ?

I was bitten quite badly by an alsatian dog whilst on delivery and was unable to use my arm for several days and had a week off work. RM did nothing to help me in putting in a claim against the owner, but the cwu union did fight my corner. It took us nearly 3 years to get a payment and an admittance by the owner that it was her dog!! As soon as RM found out that i had been given a small amount of compensastion money they asked for a return of the weeks money which they had paid me when i was off work. Typical...didnt want to know when i needed them

To be fair to the RM it is not their job to help you with any claim against the owner..You could have gone down the route in that the dog was already a menace and any previous incidents (if there were any ) were not recorded in the walk log (like any incident should be )...Therefore it could be claimed that the RM were negilgent...
