Double slots info needed Please

Good evening, I and another guy had a discussion with our dim today regarding double slots on the RM 2000

We are having walk duties to look at next week , and we said that there should not be any double slots as per 2010 agreement, especially as the D2D will also increase next jan when these duties will be implemented, at present we have double slots on most walks,(mine 63) dim says other offices have them and I replied we are not other offices, he changed tack and then said that as work rate is 85 BSI then they are to stay.

Can anyone give us the heads up on double slots so i can take something in and show him.

I've risk assessed that for H&S and have found that I need to flag this up to my manager for him to further investigate and make a decision (I expect a result within the next 18 months).

One slot one dp used to be OK but with increasing delivery size it just isn't practical. I have seen frames with a narrow opening to squeeze into a frame with a base and 5 wings and that is just not practical with the reach from one end to the other. RM2000 frames are only designed to have base and 4 wings (2 each side) as a maximum this is because if you put any extra wings on the metal benches do not fit the shape that is left. What in theory should happen is that you decide with the DOM which slots are reasonable to double up - ideally flats and small houses which receive less mail. Then you would get an allowance on your prep time because of having the extra work of double slots.........Good luck with that though

The mind boggles, double slots with up to 6 D2Ds, Christmas Cards, 4 Bags Packets, can,t wait for December. It will be all indoor work, time to cut off and the managers deliver.

Fishtank would it had been in the d2d agreement if not in 2010 I am sure i read it somewhere that double slots was not to be used,

but having read the answers i can see the point if you have 900 calls, I think we are talking about 550 calls on most walks?

Best practice is to have single slots and if it is possible i would push for it but there is nothing in black and white that states you cannot have double slots.
Be careful when using IWT because double slots will increase you prep time and your D2D prep time...make sure your planner has accounted for it...if you have a planner.
If you're talking about 550 calls on most walks then you've won a watch....well done.

RM2000 with base and 4 wings gives 560 slots with double spacing or 1064 with single spacing.
