trollys.......

hey guys, these trollys......i dont know what to make of them. royal mail said they were to take the weight off our shoulders (but we all know there really for lots more junk mail, more mail (even though its dropping....yeah, whatever) and more and more packets), but im finding pushing my trolly, which sometimes weighs as much as 135kg is really getting to my back, legs and arms. by the time i get back to my office im completly worn out and aching everywhere. and to top it off today, my dim had a go at me for being late back, to which i gave a bit back, to which he reminded me my contract up for renewl soon.
whats your thoughts on the trolly fiasco......

when the dim was on my case today i mentioned that if he wasnt happy about me being late i'd gladly cut off, to which he reminded me about my contract coming up soon, f***ing arse.....

Personally, I think we should make it part of our morning routine to weigh our High Capacity Trolleys (plus any other pouches/bags with mail in for that day) before we leave the office, keeping a record of the values.

A heavier trolley will harder to push, its contents when put in puches for "mini-loops" will take more energy etc. etc.

Oh, plus its one of the strongest counter-arguments against the "mail is down" rhetoric, a lower count of items may be true but HCT users are delivering more catologues and technically oversize parcels than the pre-internet days of the late 90s.

using a trolly takes at least another half a hour on your round. the union should back this up.

RM HCT should not be used before training is given. Documentation on weights and handling should be available. If not dont use them. You dont need the union for this, its RM health and safety rules. If your rep is not pulling his weight contact your Union H&S rep your self. Get involved if your not in the union join now and start helping yourselves

whats that suppose to mean..?. its ok you banging on saying "grow a pair", its not you who's on a 4 month rolling contract with a manager breathing down your neck reminding you of that fact. i really dont fancy being out of work with xmas so close, my two young boys would be gutted if father christmas couldnt afford to bring them gifts........

Obviously internetguy you're not based in London - you must belong to the huge band of eunuchs employed by Royal Mail outside the hallowed temple - it really is time that some of these areas were brought to heel and recognised what the real world is about - working the hours paid for.

well wha do you want people to do?
you moan the trolley weights 135kg and are told the limit is 105
if you wont raise the issue in your DO then who will?
you either raise it(and resist efforts to make you take more) or accept it and struggle on
