A sentence that RM don't understand

Royal mail should of gave out more full time contracts, but realised by doing this they would have to pay off folk in the near future, costing the business even more money. Easy way of covering shifts, is by asking people around the office to do overtime...this keeps the costs down. No extra work, royal mail don't have to bail out the overtime.

A plan thought up by one of honchos that get paid 10x more than me.

"I dont want to go over my time"

" you will finish your delivery , And we are not paying you overtime"

" i Will cut off and you are welcome to come round with me if you want"

" I will take you off your round"

" If you like, Who you going to get to do my round"

"how much time do you want ;-{"

DOM: Pegasus has made all the walks fair and even.
Me: ok, I'll do walk 11 and finish an hour early then.

one of our guys has GPS watch he wears when running. gives time, speed , distance etc. got printout off computer and took it in to show the walk to manager. was told the RM computer is what counts.

I told my manager I would not have time to complete my delivery while I was just finishing my flats. DOM said I did not tell him early enough and he had nobody to cover my round and that I had to complete my delivery. I said I don’t have to work past my finishing time. He kept saying I had not told him early enough and I had to complete. In the end I was so stressed that I said, “ I’ll do it then” in a strop. I was so stressed and worked up I actually cried. I had to phone my daughter and tell her I could not take her ballet lessons cos I had to work and she started to cry. Was ment to finish at 13:10 didn’t finish till 15:00. To top everything off when I got back to the office my manager had gone home and the place was locked up. I had specials and recorded parcels I had P739’ed and the place was locked up and the manager had gone home. You could not make this s**t up could you!!

I believe I was bullied into completing my delivery, does anyone think I should fill in a H1 form for bullying?

Thats sounds like serious bullying and harrassment there, you need to get onto your rep, also you may need a few weeks off work with stress, also a visit to your docs wont go amiss eh??

I phoned area rep. when I was on delivery he said I should have contacted him before I left the office cos once I left the office I was expected to deliver all the mail I took out and that there was nothing he could do. I asked area rep if I should fill in a H1 form he said you have to consider was he managing or bullying. I said bullying and asked him what his opinion was, he said he was not sure and asked me to phone him this week cos he was on leave.

I cant stop going over it in my head and I'm really working myself up about it. I feel stressed now writing about it. I e-mailed my area rep on Saturday but have still had no reply.

Christmas is coming too. Don't think I can do this job any more but I have a family to support and no skills to fall back on to get another job, not that there are any job's out there. Sometimes I think topping myself is the only way out.

You have my sympathy. Yes, you were bullied and taken advantage of. Now is the time to think positive, plan ahead and get it right next time.

Go to see your DOM the moment you get into work, and tell him you won't be able to work any overtime that day. Better still tell him the day before. When he ask why you would need overtime, say if it's anything like yesterday (or last Friday or whatever), you would need to work over an hour to complete, and you simply can't do that, you need to be home for your daughter. You need to be firm, and if necessary, just repeat that you need to be back at the office at x o'clock, which is your finish time. Let him manage. If he knows in advance, he has no excuse.

Please remember that this state of affairs is nationwide at the mo. Its not just happening to you and their is nothing lonelier and more soul destroying than to believe that it is.
There are threads on this board that show the correct procedures for this type of shite.As I recall (maybe not correctly):
Inform manager before commencing delivery ( you were not too late) with a witness (union) present that you are unable to complete and ask if they pay o.t or you cut off .
Manager was guilty of wilfull delay towards that special I bet, again witnesses and proper proceedures are your friends.
So cheer up a little (heres a nice cup of e-tea) all these things pass over in the end, and yes...... aweek off sick with stress due to B & H mmmmmmmmmmmm nice.
