What's the rule on dual prepping? I throw mine and the other round and don't touch ips as that's what every one else does!?

There are no national rules or guidelines on double prepping so common sense should apply.
If you are walking backwards and forwards to the IPS for half a dozen letters don't expect the guys on IPS to be too happy about it.

I work in an office of about 40 staff, or therabouts. IPS has now become a complete joke.

I was the only 1 on letters today, there was 2 full yorks of trays for me to get through. There was 2 lads on flats and 1 on the packets. We got up sorting at 6:15 and got out the middle at 9:15. By which time, the entire office bar us 4 where bagged up almost. The PT staff come in at 9ish, and they were tying up. I had 4 mech trays, 6 trays of flats, 2 packet bags, lapsing, 5xd2d, at 9:15, and not 1 single letter in my frame. The other 3 lads start earlier than me, and are on much lighter rounds - my round isnt that bad, just v heavy due to a v affluent area, so from being first out the door for 4 years due to being on FF, im now last out the door pretty much everyday and people think im taking the pee...

Im working upto 2hrs longer than other people and we get the same pay, its ridiculous,and getting me down. Im not going over btw, I get pretty much on my time, but surely the workload should be more evenly spread ?

And whats this shite with people throwing off PT rounds and then throwing their own in , why im on IPS ?

You must be a quick sorter mate. Go to the toilet and coffee machine and drag a stool over to sit down. They will soon have a change of heart....

At our place the double preppers go onto IPS once they have prepped their PT walk- AFAIK you are doing the prep of a PT round as part of the IPS so you SHOULD not be prepping your own duty if there still IPS work to do.

In essence you are walking off IPS to prep your own duty aren't you and would you be happy if someone did this to you under the old single prep regime . Thoughts.

All the ones on IPS at our DO are full time, it's amazing how slow you can throw a letter in, in between eating a sarnie, taking a call, drinking coffee, except on a Saturday when their hands flash about faster than a Ninja on steroids!

My gripe is that is what they get paid to do, I can't blame them for trying to milk it if the managers let them do it! But I get really P*ssed Off when the linos try and get the whole DO on IPS because of this "slowness" because they are in the sh*t with too much mail. Asking 30 and 25 Hr contract staff to do it just stinks.

The problem is there are various versions of the double prep.
If you prep a "delivery only" part-time duty for instance you will have to wait until the IPS is complete before you can do the redirections etc and bag up.
This would mean you would be in effect about 20-30mins behind everybody else so these guys should be prepping PART of their own duty beforehand.
I can't imagine ANY situation where you should be prepping ALL of your own duty.

I may have missed something here , but if you don't start throwing your walk in till 9.15, how can you not go over??

Why worry about anyone else..???? just get on with it . What i am trying to say , is that the more you let it bother you, the worse you will feel.Just concentrate on your own job....and relax...

Im paid till 2pm, if I leave work at say 1030, I can do my round and lapsing in 3hr30. And 9:15 was as bad as it gets in all honesty, its usually 8:30 - 8:45. I`ll be leaving in if it doesnt change before xmas though

Even then Jimmy, on a bad day. thats 35mins to prep your walk do your D2D re-directions bag up etc. How is that possable.
