yes seniority still exists. Im led to believe that in the 2010 agreement, that if you drive now you have to pick a driving duty in the repick.

If you don,t use Seniority what else do you use? I'd like to see a system that took into consideration: the amount of duties you can deliver, can you drive or not, attendance records, sickness, discipline, flexibility and attitude. The problem is it would mean a lot of work for the DIM (so it's not going to happen) it would also be open to favouritism and abuse by the DIM.

I don't believe we have the standard of Management that could operate such a system. So you're left with the fairly "Blunt" tool of seniority. I'm really impressed by how many long termers we've still got in the business. God knows how you have a chance of moving up the ladder when you've got guys with 20, 25, 30 years of service in.

Yes it does exist and I hope it stays for ever more. Screw having 'other' systems to implemment where managers can have their 'favourites' on certain jobs. I've done nearly 30 years at this company and I've had the s**t at the beginning (and still getting it now). Long live seniority!

Seniority still exists BUT you couldn't have 2 senior non-drivers both picking a van duty together.
So seniority is weakened and skills (driving) are strengthened.
