It would depend on age, how much money was offered and my financial commitments.

Heart would say take the money and run.

Really depends upon the personal circumstances.

If it was me, now, I'd take it, but I suspect my circumstances are very different to yours.

Much as we might hate this place unless i had a viable financial plan for the next 3 or 4 years at least...i would have to decline.
The jobs market will continue to shrink...benefits will be harder and harder to obtain and the lump sum isn't very lumpy.
The real question is....do you think you are fit to continue?
If you're not then the choice has been taken away from you anyway.

feel for ya,i've been off a total of 10 months in the past 2 yrs with knee damage,got the op in April,did my first week on a full walk last week,still hurts,gonna take the docs advice & go on long term painkillers,don't think the lump sum would amount to much,i'm gonna grit my teeth & crack on,unless it really fooks up,then i'm done
if it was me i would try to carry on,but each to their own,but it ain't a pretty place out there

We had a case a bit similar to yours at my MC,I was involved in it to the end which had a good outcome for the OPG involved,I will PM you with my phone number to see if I can give you any advice.

Debbie. If I was You I'd stick it out and come back to work. I took Voluntary Redundancy in another life and got about £30K. And to quote Noel Edmonds, It's not a , "Life Changing Amount Of Money!"

Royal Fail may be crap but it's a job You've got a foot in the door so play their game. If you're having problems play the game and jump through all their hoops. If you're having difficulties don't be a hero talk to your DIM and go through all the relevant stages. Don't make it easy for them. They'd love you to just slip away without causing them any problems. Why should you?

I know it'd leave your Office short but look after yourself and don't worry about it! We've had one idle bastard off on the sick for over 12 months now, don't think he loses any sleep over it

Also, can you not look at tax credits if your wages have dropped?

Or is that something else our glorious leader has decided to get rid of?

I'd speak to someone at the CAB as well if I were you, work out what you can get, what you can pay less on etc so you're more in the know, can plan better and, more importantly, worry less

I have got the meeting on thurs but think they got me by the short and curlys because I have no time span for how long im going to be off for. talking to someone from cwu legal department tomorrow, hope thier advice will help.

I'm in a similar situation with a knee injury. Originally a slip on duty when i first started there. Then a year ago the knee started swelling and got painful. Went for physio, light duties (are there any in RM?) and a phased back to full duty. Was great doing a half duty on the flat. Was great doing a full duty with a few flats. As soon as I went out for 2 days on a duty with 20+ blocks of flats the old problem started again. So back to square 1 other than ATOS have told management, no outdoor work until the surgeon appointment.

Right at this moment in time, I would take anything they were to offer me, as there's no way I'm going to be able to do a duty normally and can't see that changing in the near future. At least if I got IHR I would be able to go get another job, might not be so easy for you with your shoulder, but in my case, I would certainly take the money and run (well hobble)

Difficult one this. With the way thing are , I'd take the money and run! Seriously, don't forget that after 2 years, you could apply for a job back with R/M.

hi, i hurt my back on delivery it was classed as industrial injury, iwas off for a year and got full pay.
