Conduct coded for not doing absorbtion

Post by Caniel »

Today we got told that according to our Dim traffic volumes are 50% less than what they were this time last year so we have no excuse for not absorbing. Further more a procedure was laid out for us about absorbtion which is as follows:

*Manager gives you work to absorb

*If you feel you cannot do the absorbtion in your delivery span you have a "consultation about it with your manager"

*Options for the manager are to either take it off your hands, offer OT, ask you to flex or just tell you to do it.

*Manager will then decide if you have to do it or not and if he/she believes you can you have to do it or you will get conduct coded.....

WTF tbh..

Is this even allowed? I thought forcing people to work unpaid hours was illegal. That system to me just leaves to door wide friggen open for managers to bully people into doing unpaid work, I mean what's to stop a manager giving me some Absorbtion then walking off muttering "get on with it or I'll conduct code you"??

How do we go about fighting this? I don't have a problem with absorbing if it's generally light and I can do it in my delivery span but getting lumbered with a 14kg bag (wtf happened to the sliding bag scale??) today that was crammed with D2Ds takes the piss. I brought it back so I'm curious as to what will happen tomorrow now :/

Simple.
have your break before leaving office ,leave office on on crew bus,do your absorbstion, get dropped off on your walk, get picked up at finnishing time, what dont get done comes back simple, and no conduct code.
Managers hate it ,but nothing can do.
If you use a car no idea where you stand .

Figures may be down ( :cuppa ) but the number of delivery points on your round are not , meaning a 50% down turn in traffic does not equate to 50%

In my office, everybody does lapsing every day. If it takes you over, and it usually does, you claim overtime, or cut off. I don't think anyone cuts off, ever.
Manager is happy as the work gets done, but it must be costing a fortune in overtime and fuel costs.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

We were told if you cut off and leave mail ,you will be taken back to office every day and made to work to youre time. Now there are only about 5 people in an office of about 150 who struggle to complete there delivery in time ,guess what ,,these 5 posties me included do not come in early . So if you do the job properly you get loads of grief . This swings and roundabouts is a joke why should i not be able to plan my week ahead after my royal mail hours!!? I said to him .well if youre due me cpl hours ive worked past my time ,well can i say i want to get finished early on the saturday erm no they said!! This is so wrong!!

ask the muppet for proof of this asnd watch the look of dismay appear on the clowns face.

after you have informed him/her that you can't do the amount of work he/she is expecting you to do,then calmly explain that you are prepared to take out as much as he/she wants you to do but that you are also prepaed to cut off.if dim makes an issue of this then fire off a grievance form and see what happens then.
who the hell invests £2 billion into a servic and makes it worse?????????????
you really couldn't make it up!!!!!!!!!!!

Regardless of any agreement you do not have to work one minute unpaid over your contracual hours, end of.

You forget how foggy it gets out there in the sticks Postman. Local agreements this and that ,LTB's never seen ; area reps as common as unicorns ;and all the time some manager saying this is gospel . Things get very grey and murky.
