Holiday entitlement

Who do I phone up to check my holidays left ?

Ive had 31 days listed on the system in the office for months now .

Went in to see if i could get 2 weeks off and the new manager said i dont have 31 days .

So i have to phone up myself just to check whats what .

The manager seems to think i have been issued 2 weeks i buy for free or im not entitled to as he says the buying of weeks holiday stopped before i joined in 2007 even though i bought them last year and paid for them .

Am i right in saying that bought weeks are continued automatically each year until cancelled ?

I buy extra leave and only ever had to do it once.
think you can check your hols if you ring HQ number back of wage slip.

OK phoned the number on the payslip and they can only confirm I AM paying for extra leave .

When I told him about the manager saying it stopped pre 2007 he said crap . Not only that but they are starting to promote it ! ! !

So goin in tomorrow to tell him hes talkin s**t and get it sorted .

I started to have extra holidays this year, so your manager doesn't know f*ck all!

I end up with some of the worse times of the year to take off, but better than working at the hell hole when you don't have to!

Leave purchase option

Over and above standard entitlements, employees with less than 20 years' service will have the chance to
increase their holiday entitlement to (or towards) 6 weeks per year, by foregoing an element of basic pay.
This will offer those employees who might find it attractive to take more time off from work, earlier in their
career, additional annual holidays in lieu of pay. This choice must be exercised for at least one whole leave
year, and for each whole week of additional leave the basic pay will be adjusted by 2%. The maximum holiday
entitlement that may be gained in this way is six weeks per year. Obviously once the higher level of leave
becomes an entitlement through service, or if the employee opts to return to their standard entitlement, pay
is then adjusted back upwards.

how do I buy extra week leave ? Could I go straight to head office. I work for nearly 5.5 years.

Was told on HR helpline that you can apply for it at ANY time but it wont start until April . Cut off is Feb .

ANYHOO I go into the office this morning and tell him hes talkin b*ll*cks ( my exact words ) as we get on quite well and the banter is good .

He is still adamant he got an email from his boss a while back telling him its stopped .

Anyway I ask him for time off next month to go to Vegas and its sorted . WOOHOO ! !

Your line manager should be able to give you the plication form or print it off the Intranet.
But I expect you could contact HR and ask them to send you one.
