Delayed staff replacements and full-time contracts

My office has been steadily losing staff for months, none of them have been replaced, nor have the part-timers been made up to full-time, although our DOM continues to promise replacements.

My question is, has anyone else been experiencing this at their DO? AN interesting phenomenon recently has been the absence of any vacancies at the RM jobs site except for financial specialists at the post office branches. Christmas looms as does privatisation.

Inside info would be great, and similar experiences would be interesting.

If your office is like mine then anyone leaving, transferring or retiring is seen as a gift form the gods. That duty is then put on absorption until the forthcoming revision whereupon it will be broken up and spread onto other walks.

Calm it seems you're not alone,it's happening everywhere,and will get worse until all the revisions are done.

yip thats right...no more staff or extended contracts untill a revision has been done within your office, and you'll probably see more people leave afterwards.

i'm pretty sure if a vacancy exists then it has to be filled within 6 months?

Yes, same experience in our office but the DOM is quite open about the reasons.

Once we've had our review, the expectation is that we will end up with fewer duties and, consequently, fewer jobs. Rather than take people on only to tell them a little later that they've lost their jobs, he has not replaced any of the leavers.

same, and asked a coach at work and he told me there is 12 postman short in my office. As I asked him did we have any new employee this year as I have noticed there is no new staff.

Thank you all for this crushing confirmation, I would love to see mass break-offs but there we are. I'm gonna stop doing overtime before Christmas if this keeps up.

We have made 400 hours of saving at our office with 10 fulltimers going since last christmas through sackings, retirement, ill health, and death. They have not been properly replaced, and no doubt when the revision is done in the new year RM will want further savings!
I thought the new revisions weren't about making savings within the "unit" any longer under the new agreement.
I've heard of being lean and mean, but this is ridiculous, we all can see the state of offices up and down the country, but unfortunately things will only get worse until RM drop this p/t mentality.

If you cant complete without going over your time then your within your rights to break off. However you MUST tell a manager BEFORE you go out on delivery.

You should if possible inform them prior to commencement of delivery but this notion some have that if you take it out you have to deliver it is nonsense.

The employee will be instructed to ring his/her local manager prior to a specified time or as soon as possible if full completion of delivery workload within the time allotted proves not to be possible.

So what the doms are doing is wrong of course, and they are just making up their own rules as they go along with who ever decides to cut off.
