When exactly next year are you able to "sell" half of your shares back to RM?
If you were to keep hold of these "shares" and not surrender them, and the business was privatised, what would then happen to these shares? Would these shares not be worth what the stock market values them at, not the paltry amount the RM want to give you?
At the end of the day these phantom shares were issued free, and so you have nothing to lose but everything to gain by keeping hold of these so called shares. They may be worth quite a bit in the future, more than the £1,000 approx the RM want to pay for them as a result of this new deal. If you remember before the deal they were supposedly worth £5,000, big difference there!
That is if they are even legally shares at all!

They are not thats why they are called colleagueshares (notice the lack of a space between the words). It was a gimmick pure and simple.

Apparently the plan is still to buy back in 2 tranches in 2011 and 2012 - perhaps you could email Moya she may know.

There is nothing to hold on to...they don't exist and never have existed........anywhere.
If you refused the "buy back" they still wouldn't exist but you would be a couple of hundred quid down.

Here a good question, How can Royal mail buy back shares that are not there.
wasn't fooled then not fooled now and too everybody else who think that there have shares try and answer this question how do you privatise a company if we are the shareholders. Sorry (colleague shareholders)

Don't get your hopes up. If and when the time finally arrives to sell these phantom shares, expect them to take a remarkable drop in value right at the last minute. Think they were worth £1.52 each last report, probably end up 1.52p by selling up time!

Still seems that too many people are relying on getting money from these shares-- R/M may choose not to buy them back, and if they have no money to do so, tough luck!
And, again, if the company is privatised, and there is no R/M group, what happens then? These have always been a long term 'carrot' as is most of this agreement---in 3 years you may get a 39 hour week etc! Slight possibility of ourse if it does go private, we could sell to new company!

there was no chance of joe public buying shares in this half arsed company,lets give them colleague shares,they'll lap it up,FF to 2010,lets make it like John Lewis,we'll all have a small part of it,can't believe how people fall for this bollox every time
