WE HAVE BEEN TOLD BY OUR OFFICE THAT THE "600" DRIVING DUTIES HAVE BEEN RING FENCED, I THOUGHT THAT NO DUTY COULD BE RING FENCED ON A TOTAL RE-SIGN?
HAS ANY ONE GOT ANY OTHER INFO ON THIS?

cant see that mate,after all when revisions are done,isnt their going to be a driver for every 2 walks? probably 2 in some cases.

what if i driver does not want to drive?whats the feeling on that one?Can they force you to?

600 drivers are classed as professional drivers, therefore it seems logical to ring fence them. Cos they get all snotty if you mess with them

If a person doent want to drive when cdv's come in they will be found alternative deliveries that do not require driving, as in just outside the d.o or other trolley deliveries.

If there are employees in your unit that are unable to drive you will need to consider what other duty options are available. You may need to accommodate these employees on shared routes as a planned non driver. (There is a limit to the number of non drivers you can accommodate on shared deliveries. It is, therefore, recommended that this is not an option to employees that can drive but choose not to.) You should explore what other opportunities there are to accommodate the individual within your office.If individuals cannot be accommodated in your office, you may be able to accommodate them via a move to another unit within a reasonable distance, where suitable work is available. Where this is not possible an employee may effectively become surplus and in this instance you should take advice from your Regional ER/IR Manager.

I think under the way foward agreement, someone can refuse to put their duty into a re-sign if their duty hasn't changed, i believe the threshold is either 20% or 25%.
now with regard to profesional drivers (600 drivers). They get paid a higher basic pay than the rest of us. This is not a supplement! I not 100% on this but if they they lose their duties, in a re-sign they keep the pay, indeffanetly no 3 year MTSF.
So obviously RM don't want to pay that twice, try and insist that the duties are changed, attendance time counts as change....i think.
