Need Advise on sick wife

i know its all ifs and buts,,,but early weds morning i had to get my wife to hospital,,,she had what seems to be a fit,,,,hospital doing tests now.
i rang in this morning to my boss at my d.o and he said keep him informed,,,,i have 3 kids all school age,,,,the hospital tell me she`ll be in for a few days for tests.

am i better ringing asking if i can have holidays,,,i have a week left,,,,or were do i stand,,,thanks in advance

No, dont go sick mate. Just inform Dom that your wife in the hospital for a few days and that
you need to be off to look after the kids. The Dom may suggest your annual leave but
he/she could also give you special leave. This could be paid or unpaid at the dom's discretion.
If they try for unpaid then just ask for your annual leave to be used instead.

thanks,,,seems sensible enough,,,didnt really wanna go on sick after telling then the truth,,,,if i had of gone sick this morn then i wouldnt have a prob.

If you have to go sick you can, theres nothing to say you cant get sick just because your wife is too.

Personally what I would do is ask for paid special leave and if they refuse I would go off sick with work related stress, that will teach them to be more compasionate.

you are entitled to up to seven days leave to deal with family crisis of near dependants--payment is at managers discretion, but do not go on the sick! this will count against you, or if he is willing to put it through as holidays and you get paid, so much the better.hope your wife gets better soon.

Sorry to hear about your wife and I hope she gets better soon; I have experience of this kind of thing and it is not nice In my case it has become an ongoing problem but one we can manage quite well, but does still cause problems sometimes. My DOM and his gestapo have done nothing but bully, threaten, harass and intimidate me over it for the last five years. I wish you luck.

pity you dont work i am then CKN.....saw them this morn they were great about it....i have the options of holidays or unpaid ,,,glad about that weight of me mind.

although if anything happened to be long term then who knows.
