Pension Scheme

Coming up to a year as a part timer with RM part timer on a 24 hour contract..Is it really worth joining the pension scheme ? (just had the booklet through) I know everyones circumstances are different but just wondered what the consensus was from colleagues in the same situation..

Open a savings account, put some money in it each pay day. There's a pension scheme for you, with the added bonus of knowing where the money is.

definitely do it, even if you only put 3% in, RM have to put 5% in, if you can afford 5% then RM have to put 7% in, and dont forget with tax relief your contribution is 20% less.

The new pension scheme is not the same as the one most posties have and is run by Zurich.

Dont forget if you are not a member and you die in harness then your family only get two years pay as compensation, but if you are a member and you unfortunately pass, then they receive four years pay as lump.

The choice is yours but think very carefully before you say no.

Might be worth holding off a bit to see what our new pension plan looks like....if/when we are privatised.

Thanks all...I will take that on board and have a think,,,Not sure TNTs pension scheme will be any better and the amount of hours we will be working with them for nowt the life cover might come in handy,,,
