Annual leave.

Today we got told that starting next week we have to pick our annual leave for next year. All employes must have picked there weeks by the end of this month. My argument was that alot of people still have days to use, which they cant get but because there always refused, yet they want us to pick next years holidays. Does this happen anywhere else.

The holiday sheets always come out at this time.
They always say the want them in by the end of the month.
They always get them back around....March.
It's just another game we play.

Yup happens every year. Book up to a year and a half in advance and then get told you can't have the weeks you want!

We've been told we have to hand our forms in by end of next week Holidays are supposed to be fun ,so why does the thought of the holiday form leave me VERY stressed having to guess then hope/pray i get what i need
And as the OP said, ive got loads of days to use up before end of March and ive been refused some i needed.

Presuming my pro rata allocation of leave is approx. 18 days, I've still got 10 up my sleeve between now and t'end of March. I'm not bothered when I use them though, so I'll just make sure I do use them. They've already 'allocated' ours for next year. Naturally, we can request changes should we require them. Thankfully, the weeks I would like off are purely for personal reasons (birthdays and what have you) so I shouldn't have too much trouble bagging whatever I require.

I don't understand..."Allocated"...so you don't get to pick which weeks you would like or need to have off.......surely that's wrong

I asked my union rep about not being able to cancel leave once and he said the boss can't do that as otherwise its forced leave and thats not allowed. I presume with the "allocated" leave that you can still cancel it if you dont want it?!?
I also got told by my dim today that i wont be getting a week ive asked for next year even though i told him it was for a holiday abroad and i cant change the dates
