Mail from Saturday AND todays mail.....HEAVY

Today I arrived to a bulging framethinking what a heavy day we are all in for only to be told everyone else had a light day and mine was because Saturdays mail didn't go!!! (I am a floater so get all the crap walks that nobody wants on overtime etc) Manager said he'd pay me O/T. I said I would be bringing back what I couldn't deliver today but it would just mean a heavier day tomorrow!!
How much O/T should I put in for, I only went and hour and a half over so seems I should put in for that or is that not the way it works.

Personally i would have negotiated 4hrs before bundling up.
Would have told him 4hrs or cutting off,think you would have got it.

I'd want 2.5 hours at least for (effectively) doing 2 walks. More importantly, why the frak did Saturday not go out? Why do managers keep doing this and worse, keep getting away with it? I bet every guy in here has a story to tell about a day when the mail didn't go out. It's not good enough.

I'm afraid dayjur is right...you should have negotiated first.
Now your stuck with 1hr30mins...booking anything else without prior agreement would be ill-advised.

By ill advised he means you could be sacked for booking more than you worked. Once a well tried and accepted part of RM - ghost docket is now largely a thing of the past - well certainly where I work it is.

The question you should have asked was: Why was this not delivered on Saturday? If you was not happy with what docket was/should being paid maybe you should have worked your time and bought back themail that left to deliver. Then, it's up to the manager to explain why the mail was not delivered to his bosses as some mail would have been left for 2 days.

I don't do overtime as a rule which is why I asked the question. I would only put in for the time I worked but was unsure if it would be time and a half, or something else. If I left it today I would have to take it tomorrow anyway so seemed to be the prudent choice to do it today. I have seen mail not going out fot 3 days before and NEVER seen a manager reprimanded over it?

This is bad but spare a thought for my mate who has just had his long weekend cause he has SATURDAY MONDAY and TUESDAYS mail to do!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ive posted before saying we have only 5 walks being an SPDO and it used to run like a dream but that was in the past now it is a complete shambles!!!

Apart from the disaster awaiting my mate with his walk failing twice we have 2 part timers on 30 hour contracts,1 is supposedly recovering from a broken foot and can only do half his walk so streets go for days on end not being delivered until the floater is on the walk and has the backlog to clear or someone else does a bit of OT and the other guy who does the rural and parcels fails most of the parcels so at the end of the week he leaves all the mail and catches up with the parcels--its a disgrace!!

Now with winter leave started there is no holiday cover so whoevers day off it is will be coming back to 2 days mail

If you had heard about these sorts of situations retrospectively you would be aghast, totally in disbelief. The fact that it is going on now with no resolving, you couldn't write it. The queen would be having kittens if she knew.

Your office is simply not a viable working unit.
