How Many Reps Have Quit

I will try and keep this as short and simple as possible.

Since the Business transformation agreement was voted in (Now im only speaking about my D/O here) our working conditions have got a whole lot worse,and the CWU are standing by and doing nothing.

We have lost 6 staff at present with a possible 3 to follow in October no one is recruited against theses loses. We have 5 vacancies that are not being filled due to the staff shortage,we also have a skills shortage in the callers office. Nearly everyday I bring this up with my DIM who funnily enough agrees with my comments ,but doesn't have the balls to speak up to his boss.

For 2 years on the bounce now we are having our leave allocation attacked by Royal Mail reducing the numbers allowed off at one time. Whilst all this is going on the CWU think its acceptable for me to sit down with my DIM and go through the phases of the Transformation agreement and bring each phase in smoothly.

Well unfortunately I find this approach by the CWU unacceptable and due to this resigned as unit rep at the week end before I done or said something that would cost me my job.

Now I believe this is wide spread across the business at present and each D/O is being whittled down to the bear bones or I could be wrong.

So I was thinking today I cant be the only rep to resign over these issues so how many reps have quit so far.

I emailed my branch on Saturday with my resignation and haven't even received a courteousy call from anyone and they know exactly over the years what me and my assistant rep have gone through. Have the CWU forgotten about its members at local level or don't they care anymore.

The people i feel sorry for are the lads in my office because i know what were all going to go through now without representation and i have great fears for the future. At some point the line in the sand has to be drawn and after great thought felt resignation my only option,its a very sad day.

You will be a loss to the ranks of the CWU monkeyboy, it is quite obvious from not only this but many of your previous posts that you have a conscience and that is a commodity in very short supply within the CWU particularly the higher up the ladder you go. It is truly an indictment of the way any branch is run that they do not have the civility to acknowledge your resignation and try to dissuade you from leaving and offering as much support as necessary, which was promised at the outset of this agreement but has been markedly absent at shop floor level.

We've had two reps resign since 2007. Our new one is gutted that lapsing is all year and on the up, can't quite get his head around job and finish being a no no. Still we are strong and we will fight for our local agreements, and we will agree to anything

We have so many duties vacant in our office its a guess to who is going to cover which one,some weeks we have so many staff off that we have people taking the mick with thier own duty and never think about the bigger picture to when it's going to crash around thier ears,we have managers allowing first class mail(dated and stamped)only being done across a delivery and then allowing the person to claim for the full dutie on o/t but finishing before thier own duty does.When you have staff doing just as they please and managers doing as they please a Union Rep just dont stand a chance,it does not matter how strong a Rep is or can be if you have staff being stupid,selfish,managers running around with plasters patching things to cover up whats going on a rep will feel very alone with no point to doing the job,if there is no support from Area level and even less from Head Office then the Union as a whole will go down the shute.

Unfortunately chaps I have defo quit now the stresses of knowing your being shafted is to much to bear.

The info a rep is privy to clarify s the shafting and what do R/M and the CWU do Feck all.

Any hows its been nearly a week now and life is Appy Days and our area rep will now have to do our revision.

Pity when i was telling him about X,Y and Z he didn't really listen to me but he came to our office last week and said to our DIM he thought I would of been back repping by now.

NOT A CHANCE MATE im out and im staying out as nothing will ever change .
