Walks Being Tested

Anyone's walk being tested this week, due to changes made to them ?

Cant believe how shitter this job can get though, as ive stated before im part time 24 hour contract, so 4 hours a day 6 days a week.

goes in for my normal time for 9 thinking due to the reason that the walks are being tested ima be on a area of walks which aint due to be tested , with me being part time, which i was also told by the manager saturday.

low n behold im on my walk ive done for 6 months with all the changes they have implemented, now everything was also to be done properly regarding breaks and the driver taking everyone's bags for them.

now im only 4 hours and shouldn't be taking a break atleast i think i shouldn't be, and i am someone who gets dropped to my first point of delivery by a van driver.

so with all the waiting around for the breaks of the full timers and my driver and waiting for all the bags to be put in the van, i ended up at my first point of delivery for 10.20 / 10.30 around that time.

now i know ppl are gonna say why don't u walk , but they have taken a huge section off my walk which is closest to the office n put my drivers walk on my walk.

anyway it took me 4 hours to complete , i got to 1 n had the bag on my back n another bag left in a safe drop, so called up the office, spoke to a manager , explained n said i can claim the overtime if im happy to complete, so with it taking me 4 hours completed at 2.20

personal views on the changes is s**t imo , my call rate is up to around 566 i think now, all be it , it was my first time ever doing the drivers walk they added, but its not like i moved at snail pace or anything.

ill try tying it up a diff way 2moz see if that makes a difference, but i really think they shoulda had a full timer doing this as that was the plan to start off with.

if i took that though, id go over my time everyday, as i have the redirects , kill offs , packets being marked n tying up , then waiting to be dropped to my first point of delivery before i even start delivering.

the fact that u go in sometimes to ur walk not fully thrown off n not a 6th of door 2 doors prepped haha i just dont see it happening, id be claiming overtime everyday or needing to cut off.

i just dont see how there's any allowances for ppl on a 24 hour contract , u litreally go in just to tie up so u can go straight back out again, dont usually work like that as i say , so a 20 min break just wouldn't fit in what so ever , cause i usually end up with 10 mins for the van driver to get me to my first point of delivery and sometimes its eating into my 3 n a half hour span on the heavy days as i have to finish by 1 regardless.

just seems 1 big cluster f**k to save 90 pound a week off me.

just introduced 4 hour walks. office had to lose 50 hours. the work is now unsustainable. longer walks that cannot be done in the time even at fast pace. manager says he will start timing the staff and use his fastest worker as the yardstick

Retrojunkie, 3 and a half hour for the walk, 20 minute break leaves you ten minutes travelling time which is not on, let alone leaving you with the work you have left to do. You should be arriving straight from home at your first delivery point for your start time on four hours. I cannot beleive your Rep would stand by and let this go on, it is utterly unworkable. National agreement has to be instigated at some point regarding these PT contracts, the demise of the full timer is inevitable if something isn't done soon.

excatly, due to my office working the hereford system and working a 6 day week they seem to get away with it, i have to finish by 1 everyday regardless of the reliance on the full timer prepping my walk n how much or little he or she has done, and also how heavy it is of course.

I also have to throw off my walk for free on a Saturday as im paid 4 hours but work 5 as i do 7-12 on a Saturday, they say its towards the week i have off, but just seems like its for free to me.

the only way im able to do it , is by going in a tad earlier than 9 n not taking any breaks.

Do you have a rep you can approach about your contracted hours (I would feel a bit dismayed if he knows about your situation but lets it go on).
