rumour mill, its all cwu fault
Today iv had three (higher than lino) gaffers tell me that the CWU is taking a lot of the blame for the current state of the Royal Mail, apparently it is us that isnt delivering on change.
Anyone else heard this?

We still get no involvement in anything how can we do our part when it's the same RM regime!
The current state of RM was decided a long time ago i.e to run the company into the ground and that's what DSA etc has done.
It is not the unions fault, they have to deal with a ruthless company and a government hell-bent to privatise.
Always be one step ahead, play their game but be wiser. Revenge is sweet.

Re: rumour mill, its all cwu fault
I think the CWU is to blame.
They are the ones that forced the recruitment freeze that leaves understaffed offices failing to clear on a daily basis.
And it was the CWU that forced RM to buy all the vans etc for the new delivery methods revisions before a single penny was saved, leading to the dire cash-flow problem we face now.
I blame the union. And the matchgirls strike.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

So strange isnt it, what sort of business strategy is that, i wonder if we will ever really know what the master plan was.clashcityrocker wrote:I think the CWU is to blame.

It's not surprising that they have taken this line.....they aren't getting their revisions in quick enough.
Next they will accuse us of breaching the agreement by stalling and attempt to pressure HQ into hurrying things along...expect to see a lot more of your ADR and Divi Rep in the next few weeks.
If that doesn't work...there's always EA.

It's all leading to exactly this in my area, the dom is all but relying on me to hold up the revision, as he knows it is being rushed in far to quick and is gonna be a complete balls up!!!!

Re: rumour mill, its all cwu fault
It's been a complete disaster from start to finish. There hasn't been a cohesive plan, there has never been a completion of any half decent initiative. When we went to a five day week for example - that was the time to drop the Saturday delivery, before the rest day covers were employed.smileski wrote:It's all leading to exactly this in my area, the dom is all but relying on me to hold up the revision, as he knows it is being rushed in far to quick and is gonna be a complete balls up!!!!
There is only one culprit and that is Royal Mail management or rather mismanagement, not helped of course by opening the market and the derisory helping hand of the regulator.
The company will never recover from the hacking and chopping that has gone on for the last 10 years, the wounds are mortal.

Re: rumour mill, its all cwu fault
Our revision started in June but because the planner is doing 3 offices and the rep isin't getting any release time we're not moving on at all.............but by the looks of thing they are looking at putting in more hours (I suspect that they'll just put them back until they get the cuts they want
).

Re: rumour mill, its all cwu fault
Well CWU HQ are as usual struck dumb - even their apologists aren't brave enough to venture on here - it's hard to believe it's almost a year since we went on strike and we are precisely where?maisymoo04 wrote:didnt we ask on here about a month ago ANYONE STARTED YET think 1 person answered.anyone else like to lightin us all on the disaster plan
Any sign of a progress chart?

Re: rumour mill, its all cwu fault
Royal Mail have in the past consistently made investments in this industry that have shown little or no return. They spent millions on changing the name into something that sounded like a cheap aftershave then millions again changing it back, paid a certain chief executive with a piss poor CV and a record of failures in previous positions millions of pounds in salaries and bonuses, pay probably a figure similar to a telephone number to a tier of management that has no function at all to the business, millions in tools like Pegasus and IWT that show no return in savings then its left to local reps to pick up the pieces in a tabletop, millions in hiring Elton John to do a crap advert when Sainsburys are quite happy with an ex Eastenders actress to do a voice over then thousands hiring football stadiums and conference rooms to brainwash management that its the poor union supporting postie out in the rain with the soles hanging off his magnums with overweight bags and lack of proper equipment who constantly goes over his time to get the job done without booking thats its his fault that they've got no money.
All this and they pay us too!

Re: rumour mill, its all cwu fault
Bugger me I hadn't looked at it in that light, we've paid high salaries to get the best executives, spent hundreds of millions on excellent equipment and high profile advertising, employed agencies to tell them where the fault lies, had a report from someone who knew f*ck all about communictions - it's obvious - those lazy shiftless bastards out in all weathers roaming the streets - that's whose fault it is.rocky46 wrote:Royal Mail have in the past consistently made investments in this industry that have shown little or no return.
