don't go abroad on holidays

I went to spain the other week, got caught up in the french air strike flight home cancelled offered me another flight 3 days after i was supposed to be back at work.Phoned my boss he said if you don't come back on the monday you will face disciplinary action,I said can I work 3 days of my next week off to make up for it,He said be back or else.I managed to find a flight 170 miles away from my home cost me £500 be warned.Has this happened to anyone else.

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

FFS, they wouldn't be able to sack you for it anyway. Probably dock you 3 days wages but not sack. You were clearly mugged. Managers like that shouldn;t be managers, bullys at great height.

yeah you where well taken on!!!!!
i went to barcelona back in april and because of the volcano i was stuck there for an extra 5 days. when i phoned my boss he said that was ok but it would be coming out of my a/l...

Moving on from this put a grievence or is it a B&H case for this,demand your money back as well!

Thank you for your messages,He's only been my Delivery manager for 4 months,he said he wouldn't help me because he didn't know me!is that my fault

He sounds like a fool :roll:

A few of our guys got caught in the dust cloud and were days late coming back and had to give the time back in AL or rest days but no one was threatened with any action.

I would take this further as his out of line and needs to wind his neck in :no no

When all that ash was grounding the parafin pigeons, we had a bloke get stuck in the canaries or similar, they docked him some of his holiday to make up for it.
