When I first started I was on a Specific Event Contract. I think it is covering long term absence, maternity leave, Christmas Pressure, that sort of thing.

My DOM at the time didn't like them, got me onto a LTPT contract about a year before SDD. that threat of contract termination would never stand up in a Tribunal as it's unfair detriment for legitimate TU activity ...problem is who'd want to go that far ....not that it would bother RM

I asked the question because we have some new work coming to our centre which means the management want to recruit.
The contracts will be 3yr contracts to cover the new work.
I always thought if you were employed continuosly for 2yrs an employer had to make you permanent?

The law says 4 years,we at 'letters' have an agreemeent for 2 years which RM are breaking.

As of december i will have worked for royal mail for three years on a tempary contract. At first it was renewed every six months but the last two times its only been renewed for three months at a time! our rep is trying to get us permanant contracts as there are a about 4 of us who have been there over two years.
