They're the first thing to get lapsed if there's a round that needs cover.
The excuse of "all the letters count as one item so there's more items need delivering on the round, than in the parcels".

But if I was a customer waiting for my post, I know I'd rather receive a parcel I have ordered, and paid good money for, than some shite junk mail that'll just got straight in the bin.
you get fined for delay of mail. you dont with packets. thats why managers dont give a toss about packets. thats why when a driver is off sick, they share the duty between the other drivers. if a postie is off, they get the drivers to do the walking and leave the packets. whenever we clear packets, there is an immediate backlog cause of something.
they took a van off us because they said we was only doing 20 miles a day in it LOL. that was 4 weeks ago. so, 4 weeks of packets in 2 cages. :( need a van.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. They lapse packets at my office. Which means I get moaned at by the poor sod who's taken the day off work to wait in for a packet that he asked to be redelivered but hasn't come since it's buried in a skip in the office somewhere....

Our section sort all re-deliveries to the walkers no matter the size. Although it sounds daft it actually works. Because walkers sort packets last, and the drivers have already split them for the 5 districts in our post code, when we take the oversize ones to the correct drivers yorkie it means its on the top and rarely gets missed.
Simples.
Packets seemed to have doubled this last fortnight but AFAIK we have not yet failed, though it has been close on a couple of days.

We had an audit recently, (think the dim didn,t know about it) and we had 900 pkts on one day still to be delivered!!! some were overdue by 2 weeks ffs next team brief dim is asking anyone who wants to come in on day of as we have an extra van can do pkts!!! think he was squeeking when walking cos no-one said they wanted out...............

it has been known to happen in our office at times, but never to that extent, currently we are up to date ... the real cause is dely offices having a skeleton crew because dims are not filling vacancies expecting posties to work their day off .... they know not to ask me because i remind them that we went out on strike to get our 5 day week

My office is pretty good on the whole although when we are short staffed the packets and missort run are the first things to go. Never left for more than one day tho and tracked are always cleared. With the office being 80% van deliveries it should never be that bad anyway. One of our neighbouring offices is really bad and everytime I go there there are yorks of packets everywhere and the DOM is off with stress
