Helping with the revision

Our union rep is on long term sick at the mo. We had a WTL this morning saying the revision is goin to start in november for roll out next march. I suggested that I would stand in for our rep and help with the revision as I am one of the senior men in our office and have experiance on most walks. Would this be ok and any thoughts or suggestions on helping with the revision?

As one of the senior men i would say that you should know the score. Call a union meeting and get elected to cover the sitting rep whilst he is off sick. Then inform area and confirm your ad hoc position with the DOM. How ever if you anit got the work force behind you you aint going nowhere.

No sub rep, union job is seen as a thankless task, which to be fair is! I will call a meeting a see if the majority are happy with me sitting while main man is off.

Why is it sitting on the fence? if after the revision my walk is too long i will simply cut off just like many others in my office. I don't want to help remove hours and cut jobs, the union should not be helping this process and the last two strikes have been a complete piss take for delivery staff

Why is it sitting on the fence? if after the revision my walk is too long i will simply cut off just like many others in my office. I don't want to help remove hours and cut jobs, the union should not be helping this process and the last two strikes have been a complete piss take for delivery staff

It's a legitimate alternative position to take....as long as your office is strong,sticks together and protects each other.
Cutting off may not be as simple for everybody.

I see it the other way, if the rep is off sick then the dom wants to move in, while the cats away........

Pls just be careful about the dealings, i have known sub reps lose a case because they are sub reps and shouldnt have been tasked with that role, i think forming a comitee and having it recognised by the dom is best. Just for your sakes.

Having said that, you sound like you were meant for rep, its not all thankless, cmon matey money where your mouth is!
