Transfers, do you keep your seniority?

Thinking of asking for a move to an office closer to my flat but was wandering where I would stand with this? Don't want to transfer only to find myself at the bottom of the list should a repick occur.

In our office how it works is, if you get transfered you get whatever round is available/free at the time. Then if there is a repick, which could take years you would take your place accordingly in the seniority. But I think weve only had 2 repicks in 9 years so don't hold your breath waiting for one.

Do you start from 0 seniority if you leave RM but come back at a later date or does your previous sentence count? I know it does count for holidays but wonder if it does for seniority as well.

0 seniority unless it's a sabbatical where you lose the 1 year you were off.
Your penion of carries on from your new start date i'm near enough sure of.

Not that fair when staff move from a Mail Centre less than 1/2 mile down the road, just before a resign and bag all the best duties!

When we had WSM's put into the office we had several staff from other offices apply for the jobs and get them, pushing us all 5-6 places down the seniority list.

If your move is to another office because yours is being shut/moved into another you keep it,if your moving because you fancy a change then you would loose it,if you leave the job and come back later then you dont get to keep your seniority,thats how it was done with us,hope that helps.

I`ve just moved, FT transfer, on my request. You keep your seniority and also any bonuses your old office may have had such as the monthly PBS.

Thanks for that but as i say it has not happened in our office we have had several staff come in because they wanted to and they did not keep thier seniority they lost it,so i can bring it up with the DIM we have alot of i think he calls it issues cant hurt to chuck one more at the fire can it.

I asked my rep and management about transfering, and was told if i voluntarily transfer, i would have to accept part time hours ???
is it on paper anywhere regarding this, as i want to move as far from this shithole of a place i live in as i can.
