So im gonna have it out with him tomorrow now do I have a leg to satnd on as hes full of Sh** cannot belive a word he says?

Re: Where do I stand?
What is a day reserve,is that a rest day cover? You cover 5 different walks each day,or are you a full reserve, you cover holidays and sick?
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

If the other person knows the runs you do eg if you float he would need to know 5 runs etc, then you would be right to take it up with your dom, if he only knows that run rm will probably not use resourses to train that person on the runs you know etc so there wouldnt be alot you could do,im sure this happens all over offices!

Re: Where do I stand?
We are all full time im day off reserve I pretty sure hes done most at least once hes on a temp contract a 3 month one but has been for the last 3 years.
The point is the guy that on light duies in the main office 99% will not return to delivery but the manager said if he goes they will not replace him you will have to cover it all yourselfs for an extra fat 0 but that was a while ago now is there any sort of way I can get him to resign the round there must be a time limit i mean hes been on light duties for 3 months now hes not gettting any better hes had a hip replacment in the past now its the other one plus his back so he is in poor state no way he could go out on delivery.

Re: Where do I stand?
Of course there is no time limit...that's just what someone on light duties needs..come back or lose your duty.
It's his duty until HE decides it isn't....it might be a pain in the arse to you but it's protection for him against DOMs taking the piss.
What do you want him to do...go to his manager and tell him he'll never be fit to deliver again....i'm sure Royal Mail would love that.
No offence but think yourself lucky your not stuck in a larger office....6 years seniority woudn't even get you rest day cover in our office never mind your own walk.

If you are 6th out of 7, just as a matter of interest, what does the 7th man do?gman2050uk wrote:I have no intetion in taking his walk at all just untill he comes back which he will not as have spoken to him!!!!!!!!!

Re: Where do I stand?
Ok you have your own duty, you can't chop and change what you want to do.I think this is a bit grey as you are a small office, but normally if someone is long term sick the reserve usually covers it,NOT the rest day cover.gman2050uk wrote:We are all full time im day off reserve I pretty sure hes done most at least once hes on a temp contract a 3 month one but has been for the last 3 years.
If things carry on long term then they will get someone in from outside.
Please note, you have a duty already.

Re: Where do I stand?
Richystan hit the nail on the head. If you can cover a handful of duties they're not going to give you an "Easy" life by letting you settle into a single duty
Our office seems to have dropped titles like leave reserve, we've all become "Floaters" very apt. Consider yourself lucky if you cover 5 duties, most of our "Floaters" cover at least TEN duties
Latest record is being moved around Three duties in a morning
When we've got long term sick they normally bring in someone from a nearby DO just to cover that duty.
