Grass

Now correct me if I am wrong but I was told that posties are not to walk on grass where a path is available.....

Does anyone have any cwu stuff confirming this at all??

I wouldn't imagine there would be any specific CWU guidelines on this..i would imagine it would more likely be contained in the RM gubbins you get during induction...not that i can remember that far back...it's just really common sense isn't it?

If the Customer dont mind you walking on the grass then why should it be a problem. bet managers do when they are on delivery.

I suppose it could be construed as H&S as the grass could be slippery and may contain nasty objects, such as sharp glass (and ticks and fleas...) and therefore walking on the path is the preferred, safer route. Although I decided not to cut across the grass and use the path and that's how I ended up with my AOD

Plus, it really pisses some customers off.

If your walking on Grass then your obviously taking short cuts, I cant stress this enough on here, do the job correct, don’t cut corners, do it the way its supposed to mapped out and sod them..
Reaching over a fence to the next letter box is out as well with me.

I once had a similar accident - I opened a gate to go down the path not knowing the top hinge was busted. The gate pivoted on the bottom hinge and I went over the top of it banging my shin - lucky there was no one about - they'd have learned some new swear words right enough.

That reminds me of x mas eve 3 years ago when i did the same, but took two whole fence panels with it.

Anyway we got on after that and i ended up getting him a job last year, so it all works out, well for me anyway

Depends what type of grass it is:

Personal responsibility I think if you fall or a customer reports you then RM wll deny culpability.

Don't - the customer will probably suffer from some sort of psychosis and may came after you.

Fill you boots - just don't get caught.
