ALLAN SPEAKS... PLEASE READ
I posted this and was encouraged by some people on RMC to send to Allan and Adam. I did at 0443 on 17 July:
Dear Mssrs Leighton & Crozier
You are well paid and know the only reason you receive such good bonuses is for but one reason.
The GREAT performance of your entire workforce.
I have been wondering why the profits of Royal Mail have not been announced. We three (plus everyone on here) should realise that the only reason the profits have not been made public is for one reason only. Everyone will learn that you both have LIED to your workforce. The public will learn and be very unhappy with you both.
The support given to your workforce has increased - not from you both but from the Public. They seem to be more worried about the USO than you.
We three know that if you drive through the 'strings' and other proposals to the Regulator then you will be saying bye to Jo and Josephine Bloggs - valued members of the public and all your employees.
Pretty sure you both are more interested in your futures - to hell with the USO - to hell with the public - to hell with your workforce. So much for listening, huh?
Well, heads up, there are moves afoot in the House of Commons to address the fact that you BOTH are WORRYING THE GOVERNMENT. You both are worrying me, your entire workforce, the entire population covered by the USO, your Management colleagues and now the Government. They have more power that either of you. They were elected, in effect, by the people.
NOW the people are reacting. Pressurizing and the Government will act. If you don't.
I am so sad that it has come this far. Doesn't make any sense unless people GRASP the fact that you both are doing it for your own ends. Allan - looks like your proposal was (in the end) rejected to BUY BRITISH HOME STORES.
To paraphrase a friend of mine - WHAT A F*CKING LIBERTY!
So much for Royal Mail, so much for 'caring' about your workforce and their voice.
You make me ashamed to work for Royal Mail, the pair of you.
However I will not be beaten. You should know though I cannot afford it I will be on the picket line FOREVER. But I don't think it will be that long till an agreement is reached. HOWEVER you do need to listen to your workforce, who elected the CWU to represent them in negotiations with Royal Mail.
Democratically elected and yet you both agree NOT to RETURN TO NEGOTIATIONS?
1. LISTEN TO YOUR WORKFORCE
2. HEAR WHAT THEY SAY
3. TAKE IT ON BOARD
4. STOP PRETENDING THERE IS NO MONEY
5. DECLARE YOUR BONUSES TO THE WORLD
6. DECLARE THE PROFITS OF ROYAL MAIL
7. LISTEN TO THE ADVICE YOU HAVE RECIEVED FROM THE GOVERNMENT
8. STOP BEING OBSESSED WITH YOUR FUTURE
9. ACT AS RESPONSIBLE CHAIR AND CEO
And lastly start behaving like responsible HUMAN BEINGS for if you do not it will not be your workforce that suffer - it will be you both. If the Government stand up and take control then you both, logically, should look nothing but STUPID in the future.
This is the most important time in the history of Royal Mail. It will be so in history. Think about the future of us all. And please stop being so obstinate - YOU NEED TO RETURN TO THE TABLE AND TALK.
So says your workforce time and time again. The Government KNOW you are not listening to us.
This, Mssrs Leighton & Crozier, I see as your LAST CHANCE.
I got a response from Allan today (01 Aug) at 1027:
Hi Darren
Tnx for the email....We held 2 strategic involvement sessions with the CWU
in February on the state of the business before starting this years pay
negotiations in the middle of March 2007. Since then we have spent four
months in discussing pay in 17 negotiating meetings - three of which were
held with ACAS. We have continually said that we are willing to meet with
the CWU but our position remains the same that the best offer that the
business can afford is 2.5 per cent plus 50:50 productivity, plus £800
dividend if we hit our targets. This is the best offer that the business
can afford. There simply is no more money
Adam and I will meet with the CWU and ACAS again on Thursday.
Kind Regards
Allan
I am a worried now. It took Allan Leighton 15 (ish) days to reply to this. Hmm…
What has he been doing? Few questions for us all:
1. Why did it take Allan 15 days to reply to this?
2. Why has Adam NOT replied.
3. Why do we think Royal Mail have not published their year end (ie up to 31 March 2007) profits which historically they have done in May.
4. For all my fellow part-time workers in RM, and all the full-timers – I, you and EVERYONE you work with in Royal Mail work towards doing your best for yourself BUT we ALL benefit not only our local Managers, their Managers, right the way to the top. Why? Simply because your Managers bonus are based, I believe, on YOUR performance.
5. Allan Leighton made his “Whatever I do…â€

It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.

Yes i doubt Leighton would actually reply to this in person...i believe he has a staff of twenty or so in his office...i got virtually the same reply to an email i sent him last month...but its a fine effort and mirrors the feeling all across the country....we CAN beat these people...they ARE getting worried now....i just hope the guys and girls throughout the country all hold together and see it through...management tactics are to try and provoke unnofficial actions and force the workforce even closer to the breadline in an attempt to break the support for the IA.

It's a side stepping non answer/ politician's statement parroted out by one of his lackies. It's possible that a lacky would use text language and adopt his "style", those letters are done by PR people with input from him. Does anyone really believe he answers all those 400 emails he's supposed to get within the hour on his Blackberry ? . There's too many points/issues to answer that would need a lawyer/ PR people to answer formally. When P******p*** opened , Leighton had a lacky reading all the posts aparently.doveston wrote:what makes you think allan actually wrote that? my guess is allan would not use 'tnx' then go into a press statement.
RM are not going to release anything before it is scrutinized by a lawyer and a PR.
no doubt he hasn't seen this.
